I haven't ever been to Candlestick, not even sure what part of town it's in. This would be a quick trip and I'd like to either stay near the airport or the park. Is it safe for a single girl in the park area?

Unfortunately, Candlestick Park is not in a good area. But the good news is that it is not too far from SFO (lots of hotels near SFO) and a short drive from Union Square (lots of nice upscale hotels).
You can also take public transportation to Candlestick.
