IMO, the ID screening by providers of clients in Los Angeles is
out of hand.  I was wondering if ID screening
is a big thing in San Francisco?  I hear things are a bit less
uptight up there?  Is that true?  Do providers ask for IDs, work phone numbers, references, etc?

I've only had one provider ask for this in my several years of hobbying...  I can't remember the exact situation, but remember the girl being very paranoid...  I would think twice before proceeding with a gal that asked me for this info, however, I understand some of the more sought after women will put you through a "screening" process...
