just thought people might want to know that ktvu is doing a story tonight on "high tech hookups."

Did anyone see it?  I was just leaving my hotel when I saw the teaser for it and how LE might be getting involved.  Then I had to catch a flight.  Would really like to know what was said.  Thanks

eh... it was mainly info for civvies. they covered how, hey guess what?! you can find providers on the internet! they said actual streetwalking prostitution have gone down in business by 50% but business is booming on the internet.  

they showed that there are meetings where some providers get together to discuss advertising techniques.  they interviewed kimberlee cline; she told them how this is her civil disobedience b/c she thinks they should keep their laws off of sexuality. she also discussed how the internet has made it safer for the ladies, i.e. references. hopefully, nothing happened to her for doing the interview, b/c i noticed her website is down.

then they cut to a police station. a decoy called for an appointment, then they arrested coco in richmond but said something to the effect of "she'll probably only spend a few hours in jail, then receive councelling, but chances are she'll set up somewhere else."  then one of the cops said, "hopefully we get them evicted out of the apt, b/c it's a nice neighborhood with a park; in that way we've achieved our goal."  vice usually makes about 2-3 internet arrests a week, but they're main goal of eliminating prostitution seems hopelessly out of reach.  one reason being that providers go back online warning others about their arrest.

that was it.  the whole report was about 5 minutes, so i actually covered almost everything said. when the decoy called on the phone, he asked how much for a massage, and coco answered.  and when they were setting up, they said, "we'll try to get her to say something incriminating, like saying something about sex for money." now, i think most providers and seasoned hobbyists (not that i'm THAT seasoned, but a little more savvy than a newbie) know how to handle that question, but i guess it's the risk we take in the hobby.

Thanks for the summary.  Obviously, I am interested in avoiding any contact with LE, so all info is appreciated.  seems lke they are mostly trying to trap the ladies.
