I don't understand 2 things: 1) why people are trying to recreate something that is gone. I understand the loss of a community but 2) didn't anybody exchange email addresses? Can't ya'll meet in public at this point? Or perhaps a google group chat? Skype? FaceTime?

We tried creating a chat site which was also taken down. And yes we have emails but it is highly unprofessional to send out a mass mailing to gents who may not want to be marketed that way. The unfortunate reality is that we have been scattered to the four winds and people are waiting to see where everyone lands.

The dirth of ads for Sacramento and the Bay Area in both the CV and SF ad forums is notable so it would seem as though, for now, they are not landing here. I can't speak for the So Cal and NV folks as I wasn't active on those boards.

Bree, the loss of a community is one of the two big reasons, IMO.  And the fact that we could build a community without exchanging email addresses and without providers sending clients unsolicited emails that they don't want, is part of the beauty of it.  The old site enabled the communities to organize and build themselves ... not perfectly, I think some of TER's practices (like moderating the initial posts from a new user, or giving the user an actual reason why a post was deleted) are much better.  But we all enjoyed the community, want to rebuild it, and email blast-o-grams probably aren't the way.

The other nice thing was how easy it was for clients and providers to find each other -- which should be of interest to anyone who is either a client or provider.  With one click, I could see all the FBSM providers in the bay area, along with a thumbnail of their picture so I can save a ton of time skipping ad links that don't interest me.  One more click takes me to all the providers' pictures, and one more click lets me check the photos against google image search or tineye, which helped me weed out providers who were using stolen pics.  Dip into search, and I could find all the FBSM providers who offer nuru or foot fetish or whatever in the bay area, again with picture thumbnails etc.  Just like the old site could definitely have learned from TER about some of the board management practices, the fact is, the old site was far ahead in making it incredibly easy for compatible clients and providers to find each other, at least from a client perspective.  In fact, as a client, it's this aspect that's even more important than the community aspect (although arguably, one begets the other).  Ultimately, I didn't join the board to be part of a community (that just kinda happened), I joined the board to find awesome providers who offered what I wanted, so I could patronize them

The ease it provided, I can understand.
But I'll tell you what, it's that very ease, IMHO, that contributed to the downfall of the site

The "ease/convenience/user friendly aspect" definitely contributed to it's popularity, and that may have been a small factor, but I think the association with AMPS/trafficking and underage providers is what could not be tolerated.  Thankfully TER does not appear to be at all involved with that aspect.

Of course. And those are some seriously unsavory/disturbing associations. Associations that (unfortunately) are probably happening on other sites (thankfully NOT this one) that don't have the reach or might as the now defunct one.
The sites popularity and reach allowed it to become a place where unsavory people felt comfortable to gather and discuss unsavory things.
That and the millions of dollars he was "allegedly" laundering. Which he never would have acquired, had the site not become such a monopoly.
