More fascinating than OJ. Can his attorney insist that a jury of his peers would be composed of all Rb charter members?

Only if it can help to get the site back up

He missed his court date.

Can't post the link since it mentions his real name.

Hmmm.  Yeah.  Ok.

He had it together enough, in the last 10 years, to take our money and amass $5 MIL in assets.  Any excuse that comes from his camp will most likely be BS. Even local hoodrats have the ability to remember future court dates and they actually show up--albeit in pants sagging off their bottoms and oversized t-shirts but whatever...

I believe that $5M is only from 2010. That other site has been in operation since around the late 90s. I don't think he made any money the first few years, the best years, but I think at least $10M is a more reasonable estimate of revenue for the last 15 years.

Now what I'm wondering is if there is any jail time involved? What would be the maximum, if any

Very weird.  Story is on Sac Channel 3 KCRA,  and Bay Area CBS ch 5, but no details or reason given, and again NO PICS. If he had found his own attorney, I'm assuming at least the attorney would have shown up.  Will the court give him an attorney after they've seized his assets?

If all that cash really was laundered to some ungrabbable offshore haven, and he was totally F'kd (aka guilty), I would think he'd show up for court, then charter a jet and cut off the ankle bracelet on the way to the airport to fly away and disappear.  That didn't happen. Perhaps the church lady is making death threats and he felt he would be safer in jail, but the news story just states he's "in federal custody" - no other details.

The KCRA story will not accept any comments. Wonder why?

If you read news reports on other news websites, please speak up with a comment or 2.

Tragic and depressing as this is, I seriopusly hope he's not depressed and despondent.

Hahaha, such a loser.  I never like that punk ass.  He thinks and acts like he's above everyone.  Good riddance.

I always liked him & found him kind & helpful. I hope he gets it together!

Don't know him, no personal opinion, but ya'd think he would either show, have attorney show, or have chartered a lear to Uruguay or someplace.

huh? There was an underage forum? Seriously? Gross, if that is true.

I don't know him at all, but as crooked as it sounds like he was, he offered me a place to advertise and run a business for a long time. I liked it there and it will be sorely missed by me. I think it was a good place for me.

Any shenanigans about underage stuff he promoted or otherwise (promoted by way of letting them/Pimps advertise) I am oblivious to. I never saw it at all. If he did that, shame on him.

His life is over. It looks like he knows it. If he forfeits all his assets, he will be a broke unemployable man in his 50's. They can pile on the charges now. Suicide might be a viable option at this point.

He blew it a long time ago. He blew it by not paying his taxes. Hello!!! Remember good ole Al Capone? And whats with having an underage forum? Why didn't he just do an offshore account like he bragged he did?

What a dumbass. Just got too cocky I guess.

With all the changes over the past decade or so offshore isn't quite so anonymous

Nah, after he finds a lawyer and plea bargaining is truck he'll be back on the street after a few months (years?) albeit a few millions poorer.

The LE (FBI) maggots are doing the same things they used to do with mafia bosses. Never could prove any real crimes to bust them so they went for technicalities like tax evasion, money laundering... just to put them out of business.

This Charter Member has been there since the beginning and I can attest I never, ever see/read anything remotely related to underage victims. It's all BS cooked up for PR purpose by LE maggots.

Ben_083334 reads

You consider tax evasion a TECHNICALITY? They said he made around 5 million since 2008. I have not made that kind of money but I've paid (federal and state) a 7 figure sum in taxes over that period. Why should he get away with not paying taxes?

The part that I know about are providers advertising there that were underage. Pimps would put ads for them in there. They never bothered to ask for ID. The software was designed to filter out the word underage. Nobody was allowed to talk about pimps using underage girls on that board. Two girls admitted they started underage.

The Bay Area press reported that the police "rescued " nine underage prostitutes in Sacramento alone. All of them were supposedly advertising on that board.

The should have done something to put a stop to that years ago.

The way I see it $5M for 5 yrs. is not big enough to classify him as a big fish tax dodger. And the $5M itself is just something cooked up by LE so far without any proof.

It's not like he's a drug kingpin. Where did his "income" come from? mostly from VIP membership and anchored thread. It's not like he accepts online ads like the big guys, Yahoo, Google etc...

Then imagine the cost of maintain the web site. Must be huge. He must have needed fairly sized hardware for all the data.

Last but not least the guy lives in a fairly modest house in Mountain View. It's not like he even lives in Los Altos or Palo Alto for heaven's sake.

By all indication Red is living pretty modest. I doubt he was getting rich off RB anyway.

Yes maybe he could have somehow be more vigilant and watch out more for underage ads but realistically that's an impossible task. How can you really tell if one is 16 or 18 y.o. with any certainty anyway? occasionally some will slip through of course

It may not be what a Colombian coke dealer makes but it's a decent amount of money for running a small web site. the 5.4 million is documented in the indictment.

Hardware costs for servers would have been 2-10K for a site like that. It depends how fancy he went. Maybe 1-2K a month in hosting costs including mirrors if he had mirror sites .

His house might have been modest by the standards of Atherton, but median price homes there are 1.2M

All he had to do is demand ID and that would have stopped pimps with their underage girls dead in their tracks. The first report in the SF papers about underage prostitutes was in 2011. He thought he was invincible.

I posted a summary how he could operate his sites for less than $1k/month and he deleted it and sent me a PM telling me if I posted that again I would be banned. As we've seen Red is an idiot. He wouldn't last a week where I work.

No, you got banned because you were being an idiot and everyone finds you annoying.  Fellow hobbyist brothers don't like you and even the providers don't like you because you harassed them.  Get over it, loser catover.

Not cooked up. I have a copy of the indictictment. Many transfers in the amounts of around $90,000 since 2011 adding up to 5.4 mil and change. Mostly thru BofA. Different branches but out in the open, plain as day. Bizarre.
Not sure where you can get a copy and I'm not familiar enough with the forum rules to know what I can and can't post but Kenny Starr can email me and I can send him the link or PDF or whatever if anyone is interested.
I just can not Imagine how anyone who's making that kind of dough would not have a good tax atty and just pay up. Crazy weird. Or just greedy? Not sure. Never met the guy.
And the underage thing? He needed legit models releases and proof of age to publish pix. Or strict standards like backpage's no nudity policy if he wasn't going to ask for proof. Eros Guide does it that way and they still make bank

He would not have needed model releases. Since he started to allow fully nude and explicit photos to be posted, he needed to keep 2257 forms. He was NOT exempt because of what he allowed there.

Example of exemption statement that cites the 2257 federal law:

All persons depicted on this Website were 18 or older when the images were created.

Exemption Statement -- Content Produced by Operators: With regard to all visual depictions appearing on this website, for which the operators of this website are "producers," such depictions are exempt from the provisions of 18 U.S.C. §2257 and 28 C.F.R. 75 because:

    they do not portray actual sexually explicit conduct as specifically defined in 18 U.S.C §2256 (2) (A)(i)-(iv);
    they do not portray depictions of the genitals or pubic area created after July 27, 2006;
they do not portray simulated sexually explicit activity created after the effective date of Title 18 U.S.C. §2257A; or,
they were created prior to July 3, 1995

Hey Q, good to see you here.

The indictment is online.  I'm pretty sure I saw it linked to an article on cbslocal.com.

Also, someone put it up on scribd. so you can go to scribd and search for it by the sitename.

He said that he missed it because he was trying to find an attorney, but he can't use a computer as part of the terms of his release. He said it was very inconvenient. The judge gave him a pass.

catlover395 reads

LOL, that's BS.

He doesn't need to find an attorney.
They will find him. I'm sure his phone is ringing off the hook from lawyers wanting to represent him.

More likely he wanted to delay confronting the media at the court house and having his face shown on the 6'o clock news. When is his next court date? Maybe I'll take the day off from work and see him in person
