One of the things missing on this regional board is a sense of community amongst reviewers. Seems like out-of-towners just come here and say I'm here and only the ladies respond. So let's talk about real things in here that are SF Bay Area only and make this board a real resource. I am tired of reading the general board where very little really applies.
The old site which "shall not be named" started out of SF and had a thriving community of reviewers from the Bay Area. We need to revive that sense of community. If you live in the SF Bay Area and your reviews are mostly SF related, respond to this post. Also respond if you visit the Bay Area 3-4 times a year and do reviews for the area, please let us know. I personally have been a hobbyist since 1996 and feel like I have a pretty good sense for the pulse of the area. Tell us about yourself
yeah I am here. Been around for a long time, met some very nice ladies, seen people come and go. Seen the changes not just to the bay area but to the local hobby as well.
Hate to be the party pooper but most of the community from the now defunct board are at another site. Over the years a few have popped in here, but they don't like it for a variety of reasons , too strict, "too hard to use", etc. There was a big influx right after the other site got shut down and you can look back at the old posts. Some people were actually complaining about not being "welcomed" or something like that. but anyways, yes, let's try and make this a better board. Make SF TER Great Again!
Yes, SF is the great alternative lifestyle community. so would love to help hobbyists navigate the Bay Area , etc. We're talking restaurants, bars, hotels, etc.
I throughly enjoyed myself at the "other" site too, and yes there was much more a sense of community back then. I'm also one that hasn't spent much time here because it's stricter and yes it's harder to use than the site I normally use these days. Be that as it may, I do like some things here so I visit every now and then. This may be my 1st post here?
There is a great group n Facebook, yes a vanilla site that talks about "I remember San Francisco, When..." FUnny to think many of you might be on here.
I got into the hobby a couple of months before the the old site shut down so I have more of a passing acquaintance then a deep relationship.
Much as we may all quibble with some TER rules and moderating, end of the day TER is the only platform with consistently (at least in aggregate) reliable reviews and I'm very grateful for that, and would love to see a more vibrant community on the SF board. Of course, I'd be happy to do what I can to keep the ball rolling.
