Remember how it was when we all started in this business all the women looked out for each other we cared about each other....

I'm talking mostly to the women that started when I started We were totally okay with giving references, there was no attitude and no I own a client type of attitude...

The men had no problem providing screening because that's just the way things worked...references,  screening.... it wasn't an issue.... other women didn't under cutting other women say oh I don't screen I don't check references everybody was safe and everybody played the game by the rules

Well I have a strong feeling that that's the way it's going to go back to you now because of what happened. I for one am completely happy that it's going to go back that way. I like it better that way it was a lot safer it was a lot more secure in my opinion.

And maybe we have to go back to the beginning to start over and do it the right way...

Maybe people just need to quit getting too big for their britches.... you know hey if its not broke why try to fix it???
it was fine the way it was before why keep trying to improve and make it better angst bigger

Greed?

All I know is that I'm glad that this will force women to go back to the way it was possibly being a sisterhood again and quit competing with each other for clients and money and being jealous and all that bs

Kisses!

She talks about things going back to the way they used to be.  I don't think gals asking for your real name, your address, your ethnicity, your employment  was the way things used to be.  Guys, just don't do it, they will have no other choice than to cave in & give it up.  On previous post I knew a gal who thought she was slick by asking for air tickets, guess what?  The cops showed up with air tickets when they arrested her.  If they want you, they will fabricate anything (fake references) they need to.  References for an illegal activity is as ridiculous as those disclaimers some providers place at the bottom of their ads, I know many gals who have had that disclaimer in their ads and have still been busted, the D.A. Even used the "disclaimer" as evidence against them!!!!!!

I think you're talking apples and oranges here. When CK refers to references, I think she means asking what other providers you've seen and calling them to see if you're an okay guy. Not asking for your personal information.

This is how they protect themselves from LE, abusive men, thieves and worse.

There are providers that ask for PI as part of their own screening process, but you don't have to visit them, and they represent a small minority as far as I know.

Going back to the way it used to be is a scary thought. Yes, it seemed like a more jovial time, nice conversations between hobbyists' and providers' w/out being accused of marketing or being shill. In some respects a simpler time. However; it was a time of no references and a gal not having any sense of who was coming over to their space. It was a dangerous time really. While the gals interacted lovingly towards one another on the other board in the early days, there was little interaction regarding references.

When references started there were many gals (and men) opposed to this. I remember this very clearly when a gal would slam the phone down on me because she felt "her" client was going elsewhere. It was difficult for references to become mainstream. But oh so much safer. Not foolproof, but safer.

So going back to a time before references is not a place I want to go back to. If going back to a time when the boards were fun, that's fine and great. I would welcome that and have missed that aspect or a very long time. Just recently I was "scolded" by a screener for another gal. I was "educated" on how to ask for references, etc. This behavior would never have been around in the "golden age". My fear is when the masses come here (and I imagine a good amount will when they get their sea legs back) I fear it will turn in another "other board" situation.

"Remember how it was when we all started in this business all the women looked out for each other we cared about each other...."

As most everything, technology has allowed for a certain level of comfort. Going "back" in normally an oxymoron. In this case, the sisterhood that you speak of lost a huge asset to keep you (and us) safe. While you may remember the past, most (to include me) do not.

Safety will be lost with the demise of the other site.

My thoughts exactly. By enforcing one law, the FBI has managed to create an environment that encourages hundreds more crimes.

The d-bag fbi didnt cure cancer! They wish they did but after all the smoke has cleared, they caught two people. A man and a woman that happened to live in the bay area and they got them for mainly tax evasion. Guaranteed if those two have a decent lawyer, all the other charges are flushed down the toilet. This is yet another easy target for them to make an example of in a make believe community. And I agree with all of you folks so far in saying that all this bust does is create worse problems in the provider industry. Its only going to create more REAL crimes and nowhere will the mighty fbi be around for it. They dont like to clean up! Now what? Do the feds really expect for all the whoring to cease&desist and go away??? Well here's the sad reality of it all : the powers at the head of LE act like they are running for poilitical office. And so once again, they see this move as a strategic move to get ahead. Im sick of corruption. There really is no wrong or right anymore because both sides do the same exact things!

I agree 100%. The competition among providers particularly FBSM providers was fierce. Despicable lapdogs would take advantage of the situation to get their "pats on the head" particularly from "long in the tooth" providers who had a harder time competing with the newcomers.
While painful for some I'm sure, I think it's actually a good thing that other site got shut down.
This site seems more serious about the business at hand and less about trying to win popularity contests.

And, there are reasons other than jealousy/competition that one might steer clear of the referencing process.  Just my take on things...

if people would stop doing unsafe sex practices.  If there wasn't any trafficking and underage trafficking and pimps involved, there would not be as many problems.  And if there was no efforts by the guys to coerce girls into doing stuff they are uncomfortable with under the threat of a bad review or no money, they probably would still be around.  When you screw over too many people, abuse women and force underage women or even adult women into prostitution, this is the end result.  I call it karma.

I've met some good guys off of there, but I'm independent.  I can say no to some pushy, controlling, mysogynistic asshole.  Many girls are in situations where they can't.  Too many of those people were taking advantage of them.

I never stopped giving and receiving references. At this point my risk taking level is way, way down there. I am in full support of other ladies that choose to continue this route. I am also guessing that request for work references will start rising.

Where will they go now for more "work" on stings? It seems to me like they shut down an easy, free venue for them.
I imagine other sites are much harder by comparison.
