Although seeing a provider at a familiar hotel in-call location has advantages, I've often wondered if the valet at the garage, the hotel doorman or even the maid in the hall, 'read' me and said to themselves "...definitely a 'John' !"
Has anyone been 'read' by a random stranger (...not including LE) ? How did it turn out ?
Because I figure that the longer I'm there the greater the chance of reception or the maid or doormen figuring out that I'm a provider. 3 days in one place is my maximum. I also dress very conservatively out in public areas of the hotel and keep my head down as much as possible. It's a tough one. I met a fellow provider for a drink once who turned out to be staying in the same big hotel in Chicago. I'd never met her before and when she walked into the bar I was a bit horrified to see her wearing a tiger print fur coat, skin tight leather pants, pointy stilettos and white blonde bleached hair and I thought oh my God could that look any more like a 'hooker' outfit. We looked pretty funny me in my jeans, sneakers and jumper and no make up!!!
Great story, Claire ! I'm amazed by what some providers define as 'business attire' 
On a recent trip, I had to escort a young lady into an elevator and up to my room. I had explicitly inquired if her wardrobe included a business suit or a fairly conservative blouse/skirt/heels combination. She sent me an e-mail stating , "...but of course." When she shows up, dressed in an outfit analogous to your provider friend, I almost tripped over myself 
Needless to say, the other gentleman in the elevator with us had a fairly good idea what our 'meeting' was all about... Good times, nonetheless...
On the weekends when the LA crowd comes to Vegas to party, the civi ladies look more like escorts and the escorts look more like civvies. At least the smart escorts. I've ridden down the elevator of many a hotel with a bunch of hot So Ca civies on there way to a club lookin like a bunch of escorts. Skin tight outfits, plunging necklines and Loubie CFM pumps. It's really quite the sight.
Vegas is a different animal all together. I recall a recent visit with the fellas. As I'm sure you know, you can't walk the strip without being bombarded with people distributing "escort cards." The cards are littered with stunning women, along with a telephone number to call. I laughed when one of the gents we were with actually thought he'd get the girl in the picture, whom advertised at a $35 rate btw, by simply making the call. At that point, I let slip, that any one of them could make arrangements to meet with a beautiful Provider, at a price range of $600 to $1000 and they would come to your room. Absolutely no chance of a bait and switch. Boom...That's when the questions came out. What's a Provider ? How would you know the range ? Bait and Switch ? Sometimes we make it easy to get 'read'
Once a very long time ago before TER even existed I was in Las Vegas. This street walker started a conversation with me. Little head takes over control from big head. She was rather cute. Next thing I know I invite her back to my hotel. However, the way she was dressed was a lot different than how I was dressed. It was bad enough walking back to my hotel with her. But I had to stop at the front desk for something. I told her to wait there and I would come back. I walk in the lobby and next thing I know she is walking in right behind me. WTF!!
Dirty looks from the hotel staff to say the least. They probably even knew who she was. OMG, by the time I got her in my room I had concluded the had all the class of a Baboon in heat and all the discretion of a freight train going through the place. My big head quickly took over again and decided there was no way I wanted to do much with her. Was so mortified I just wanted her gone. Got a quick hand job and got her the hell out of there. She seemed a little offended, I didn't care. I would have changed hotels, but everything at a reasonable rate near where I needed to be was sold out.
Never, ever, again have I even considered giving a street walker a second look.
But I think the short hair would throw most people off! I try to keep my attire to sexy business casual - if the client requests something more risqué, I throw on a long coat!
I'm a tall, tan man with white hair and a white mustache. I take beautiful young women shopping at Victoria's Secret, Dollhouse Bettie's, and some lesser known one off lingerie boutiques. The chances of us being mistaken for an uncle out shopping with his niece are pretty slim. Some of the glares we get are wicked. Some of the snickers we get are hilarious. ALL of the memories we make are priceless. (sigh)
I have a lot of older lovers who treat me out to dinner, shows and vacations, and the age difference is obvious, but I love to have fun and make trouble...so I really put on the act and start whispering in his ear, kissing him and doing other naughty stuff in front of the staff, which my lover friends absolutely adore...what are the staff at the Waldorf Astoria or Ritz going to say? They merely pretend that everthing is normal....priceless!

I asked the hotel desk clerk where I could get flowers for a lady friend. They just started laughing and I walked away.
I have a pretty alt look (short/shaved hair, tattoos, punk) so I think most folks do not think twice. It's fun being incognito!
