If I've made a first-time appointment with a provider and she happens to get a call from a trusted and reliable regular of hers, who wants a multiple hour session but can only do it during the time-frame I've requested, I don't mind getting bumped.
I appreciate the risks these ladies take every time they make an appointment. There's a risk of no-show by the gentleman, and far greater risks that we're all familiar with. The providers bread-and-butter is their regular, who they can trust and know will show, tips big and who's easy to please because their expectations are solid. Keeping regulars happy is good business too.
But call me. Tell me you can't make our appointment. Don't tell me I'm being bumped for a regular, it's none of my business why you can't make it. Things happen, come up and we're all human.
What I do mind is if you try and string me along, pushing the time back, trying to squeeze me in just so you can get my money. I understand that providers sometimes fear canceling an appointment because they want to try and avoid confrontation with a client, but that's no way to do it. Just call and reschedule the time for a later date, whatever the reason.
Don't make me drive out of my way, don't string me along and don't make me wait. Tell me the moment you realize you're not going to make the appointment. If it's truly 15 minutes, I can wait. Past 30 minutes, just let me go - reschedule for another day and throw me a discount or extra time. I may become your next trusted and reliable regular. rik
