Brewster's Millions: what would you do?

If you've seen the movie, you already know the idea.  If you haven't, rent it because it's a fun movie.  :)

Ok, here's the scenario:

You have to spend $300M in 30 days in order to inherit $3B.  If you are able to spend the $300M in 30 days, per the conditions below, successfully you get the $3B.  If you are NOT able to spend the $300M in 30 days, per the conditions below, you get nothing, nathan, nada.

If you choose NOT to embark on this challenge, you get $1M, cash.

Here are the conditions:

*) You have 30 days to spend the $300M but at the end of that 30 days, you must have NO ASSETS from the $300M you spent.  At the end of the 30 days, the only assets you can have are the assets you have when you started the challenge.

*) NO more than 10% of the $300M can be given to charity
*) NO more than 10% of the $300M can be given to friends or used to help others with their debts, etc.
*) NO more than 10% can be used to book sessions with providers.  :D   LOL
*) You CAN NOT tell ANYONE about the challenge or what you're doing.
*) You MUST have a receipt for every expenditure so it can be logged as evidence of the expenditure.
*) You CAN NOT destroy anything you purchase. If you buy a $10M painting, for example, you can't destroy it thereby negating its value.

Given these conditions, what do you do?  Do you take the $1M cash and walk away or do you take the challenge and try to spend the $300M in 30 days?  (insert sinister laugh here)

As for me, I would take the challenge and spend the $300M.  What would I spend it on?  Well, let's see....

First, I would give the 10% to charity and I would spend another 10% helping friends and family with their debts, etc.

Next, I would spend 10% booking sessions with every provider I have ever fantasized about but have never been able to meet.

That should leave me 70% of the $300M to play with and this is where things get challenging.

I guess I would start out by making a "bucket list" of sorts.  :)

First, I would RENT a Penthouse suite at the best Hotel in Las Vegas for a month.  I would also rent a limo (for the month) to take me everywhere I needed to go. I would throw lavish dinner parties at the Hotel, treating everyone to the finest Las Vegas has to offer.

Next, I would rent an island in the Bahamas for two weeks and charter a jet to fly 20 of my closests friends any myself there and back.  This would be a clothing optional extravaganza and there would be a full staff and gourmet cooking staff to cater to our needs and make sure we enjoy the finest cuisine available!

Once back from vacation, I would hire Rush to perform an impromptu concert at the Shoreline (which I would also rent) for 1000 people I would pay a radio station to help choose.  Of course, I would reserve spots for friends who would want to attend the show.

Then, I would book a weekend trip to the International Space Station and see what the Earth looks like from space.

Once back from space, I would head down to LA and hire the LA Lakers to play an exhibition game against the And1 street ballers.

At this point, I have no idea how many days of the 30 are left, so on the last day I would hire the San Francisco Symphony, accompanied by the San Francisco Chorus to perform compositions by John Williams, conducted BY John Williams.

If the above wasn't enough to spend all $300M, I wouldn't care since I would have accomplished a lot anyway.  :)

What would you do?

Peace...

Spending 10% of the money on escorts would be $30 million.  But according to the stipulations, you must have a receipt for all the expenditures.

It may be a bit challenging to find escorts who would provide written reciepts for such large donations.  Actually, for any donation amount, now that I think about it....

Yep, you're right on both accounts.  The 10% "cap" was mainly just that, a cap.  This way someone couldn't blow the whole amount by hiring every provider they could and giving each $1M for a one night super-party of some kind.  :)

As for receipts, I guess "entertainment services" would be the service provided.  (Just thinking out loud)

Peace...

For enough money, they will write you a book.

Do you mean you would drive in a race?  Or would you bet on a race?

Peace...
