I know this may be out in left field.  But, with the wealth of knowledge that TER members have ... I simply had to give this a try ...

I have some friends visiting me from Europe.  I am not too familiar with the San Francisco bar/dance club scene.  

Do any of you have recommendations?   I hear "The bubble lounge" is a meat market, and that "The Up & Down Club" is great for jazz.

Your recommendations in helping me create a lasting impression on my visiting guest is greatly appreciated!
