If a person was a vip at the other site, and had auto- payment set up for that what will happen? Will the person just stop being billed, or will there be any consequences I wonder.

It's not illegal to pay for a porn site membership that I know of. I contacted ccbill and asked that my membership be cancelled immediately.  If I get another charge I will dispute it and ask the bank to give my credit card a new acct number.  I'm guessing the feds were after the big bucks - following the money and don't give 12 cents about our $12 membership fees even though there is a paper trail that they could follow.

I wrote up a long detailed explanation but TER marked it inappropriate and didn't post it, so I'll just say this here:

Just because you see that FBI warning page does NOT mean the actual site itself is compromised. If the site's owner is anything but an utter moron, the actual servers hosting the site are probably physically located in another country, very likely beyond the reach of the FBI.

There's a complicated technical explanation, but the long and the short of it is what you see when you go that that other site now is just a page on an FBI server somewhere; it's almost certainly NOT a page the FBI put up on the old site. Feel free to PM me if anyone would like a detailed explanation of how that works.

I also wouldn't worry about CCbill. There's nothing illegal about signing up for that site, and again unless the feds have possession of the actual servers the other site was hosted on, there is no way they can link you from CCbill to what particular services you paid the site for.

All of this is, of course, out the window if the site's owner hosted the sites on US soil. I don't know whether or not that was the case, but I had always heard and read on the message boards that the servers were overseas. Most adult sites are these days, to eliminate as much legal hassle as possible in situations exactly like this one.

wow interesting.  all this time they've been claiming that the servers are overseas.

regardless of that, the owner was right here in the USA.  Even if the servers were overseas, what's to say there wouldn't be a plea deal of some sort.

Exactly, it is too late to do anything if you are concerned about your records.  The cc processor still has records of the past transactions.

I always paid cash because of this situation, but that probably wouldn't matter anymore either.

Besides, this is not something that just happened over night.  This was a long time investigation at least many months if not years in the making.  They were probably collecting information for months and months.

Most of you probably did not see this post on the other site, but the morning of the closure, someone posted that he had been visited by le who new his identity on the other site.

The site was gone before I had a chance to log on yesterday so I didn't see that post. I actually got a call from a provider asking if I was able to access the site since she couldn't. So I tried and got the FBI seizure screen and told her. She "lol"d and thought I was kidding....until I sent her the screen cap.

I'm sure the majority of former members (both hobbyists and providers) of the other site are freaking out right now with not being able to discuss this with anyone or getting any type of info./support.

And to make matters worse...my former screen name is already taken here! (lol) Oh well!

On a side note: Does anyone know what the "link URL", "link title", and "picture URL" at the bottom of the message body of the screen as you're typing your post is for

I have researched this before and according to http://whois.net the servers were actually located in the Seychelles, a sovereign,  group of islands off the east coast of Africa. If you look up the domain name now, it shows as being registered to the FBI. There is no guarantee however, that the feds didn't work out a deal with the ROS to hand over the servers, or for that matter, offer Omuro a plea deal he couldn't refuse to get the passwords.

If you traceroute the original (i.e. not the current FBI) IP number, you'll see the path head to netnation in Vancouver via Seattle routers; not African Islands.

Just FYI, i can verify your fidings. And the fact is, this past year, i noticed some weird things acting up on that website. Typically after midnight when postings are limited by members, i can tell that someone was tinkering with it because I think LE was trying to isolate posters on that board. This was in 2013 and 2014. Its bizarre how my hunch was correct. Being on that board for so long, you just notice the little things.
And I would care to guess the person that got visited was probably and more than likely one of the mods or an actual employee on the website's payroll.
They cant harass someone like you kenny or anyone else that is just reading random banter on a make believe message board? LMAO!

After seeing all the stuff about Snowden and apparently valid information about privacy violations, I'm guessing the Feds COULD have access to all the other site info regardless of where the servers are located. Certainly not a matter of national security, but apparently there was a LOT of money involved. Although our govt cracked down on tax evaders with foreign bank accounts and investments, I think the other potentially incriminating sexual details are not that important to them.

That's good info friend! Thanks for the update. Im sure there will be more that will be swimming in after the titanic had sunk. I actually offered my old yahoo group as a lifeboat to my elite current members. But I think this place will suffice for now and try to calm to masses when they get here.
Thanks again!

And oh yeah, I was told that the owner of that site does have his servers on foreighn soil and not in the US. His thoughts were and is the fact they cant touch those servers since the host nation won't give them authorization to break in there and collect all that data. My guess would be that uncle sam would hire some phenom from one of these tech corps to break-in backwards and try to suck out the data that way? I dont know if thats even possible. But I gotta tell you, if the feds go out of their way to do that then this country has again gone to the shits. How stoopid is it to go after two people that collect residuals from online advertising? WTF? Just because they cant bust drug lords, then they have to go after the small potatoes now? LOL!

Yes, I saw the girl chase or chaise talking about this in a tiny chat room. I guess, she said the guy was her roomate. When I asked her what happened, she told me she didn't know me so couldn't tell me.. but was in a public chat talking about a knock on her door early morning and saying, "they will be back after they read pfs". Not sure why they banned me from the forum after I asked what happened. But this information could have been useful for me to share with the many providers who are reaching out to me.

If you're not doing anything nefarious I wouldn't worry about it.
However, I'm just curious if this information is presented as evidence will other entities be able to examine this a matter of public record? I don't think the FBI will allocate assets investigating the sexual proclivities of a congress man, mayor, priest/minister, judge, police chief, tech CEO or movie star but gossip sites will be salivating if this comes out.

I could be wrong but I'd be surprised if they even cared about the login info, who paid for ads, etc. They're going after Red & his GF on racketeering and money laundering charges, which are pretty damned serious offenses, with serious penalties (and probably a lot of $$ to recover/confiscate). I can't see them bothering to track down providers for posting an ad, when doing so would cost a lot of time, effort and money to prosecute in the first place, let alone to actually get a conviction. And even if they did convict a provider for placing an ad, the penalty would be a slap on the wrist.

I think they're after much MUCH bigger fish, who will make a big sizzle when the hit the frying pan. Plus, just think of the disruption to the industry in the Bay Area as a result ... That alone is a HUGE "win" for the politicians who are encouraging the types of investigations that led to the shutdown.

my thoughts are this.

I, too, was a VIP member.  Because the site has been shut down all charges should cease.   If you are using your bank account you could stop the payment yourself by calling the bank.

As far as any ramifications from LE due to the site shutting down, I would assume (oh setting myself up to be an ass LOL) that the only folks who may suffer consequences would be the ones who saw the underage girls from that site...

Just thinking through my keyboard here....

Red is a bigger idiot than I thought.
I knew he wasn't too bright when I posted a summary of how he could greatly reduce his IT costs and he deleted it and sent me a PM telling me shut up about how cheap it can be to host a message forum and he threatened to ban me if I continued.
Then we find out about the incredibly stupid things he did with his money, over and over again, practically screaming to the IRS "INVESTIGATE ME!!!

I had to do the same. Freaking credit card company actually had me wait for them to call the 'company' then someone on the other end actually came on, but luckily I did not answer, so the gal from the credit card company said I must have been disconnected. The other guy asked if she could give him my info, but luckily she said she can't as it's private. I can hear all this before I hung up. I'm thinking it's the Feds with access to the company's phone.

Anyway, I promptly canceled that card later that afternoon.

Yup, well, they caught the two big whales that they were (allegedly) gunning for since 2011. So says the news (err) tabloids. Like I already said before, the only other direectly affilialated individuals were the dozen mods or so on that website.
I totally agree with what you've said so far jsxyz, but you do know these fed-f**ks are still capable of doing the oppostite of what you think. Ever since 911, Im never surprised what big brother is capable of doing. (shudder)
And so, with that said, never say never.
Anyway, they can legally bust those mods if the feds bothered to trace their IPS addresses. First identify them and then check to see if they actually got paid by Red and/or his girlfriend. If they even bother to do that, thats chicken shit, IMO. LOL!
And so those are the only ones that should really be scrambling around.
Oh well, a hundred years later and we're celebrating Al Capone's capture and conviction and prosecution. Along with the present day "prohibition" that they are treating present consensual intercourse behind closed doors.
F me! This government blows!
