You don't specify if you are talking about people in general or providers in particular.  That does make a difference, you know, regarding what you would talk about.  I mean you wouldn't call up a prospective date and ask "How much for a blow job?" now would you.  Wait, I think that's how I got my last date!

With people, especially women, they love to laugh.  Tell them something amusing that happened to you recently.  That always seems to start the ball rolling.  Also, people love to talk about themselves, so just ask them how was their day ... what exciting things have they done lately ... etc.

Remember, you only go around once in life. Don't  overthink every situation.  Not everyone is going to like you and that's okay.  Many others will.  Just take a deep breath and enjoy the moment!
