A good and cheap or hourly motel in Mission Valley or La Jolla during the summer in a highly desirable tourist destination? That's rich! Take a look to the north as you drive by Taylor street and check the price of a single at the Motel 6 during the week. Check it again on Friday afternoon. That's about as good as it's going to get in those areas and there are no hourly places in the valley that I'm aware of. Prices are just now starting to drop since school started but another spike is coming this coming this 3 day weekend. In LJ, you're going to pay dearly for just about everything,habitable or not. If you want cheap, head for the burbs. Preferably to the east or south. The farther you go, the cheaper it is. Don't expect posh surroundings though.
