Guys this is a sad day indeed... Yesterday, I received a phone call from a provider I had previously reviewed (Megan), she is in North SD county. She asked what needed to be done to remove her review because she did not like it, it was not flattering! View for yourself... She explained she was taller than I listed (by 1"), and she did not like to be compared to Tawny (a friend whom recommends Megan to her clients). I explained what I thought and that I just report what took place in the session, I asked her if she felt I lied or misstated anything (other than the height), she said no but that one bad review would cost her business. I explained to her that I was upfront in telling her I would be submitting a review and to be aware that it could help her business like it has with others she knows. She said she did not care... Soooo, here is the kicker, another hobbiest read her the review, not only has he broken the veil of the brotherhood and destroyed my efforts as pointman to a new provider, he now has ensured that other hobbiest will take an unneccessary risk and possibly waist their time and $$. I for one am saddened by this selfish act of thoughtlessness. Please weigh in with your thoughts, I will not request the review to be taken down until next week... J

It's my view that you have NOBODY to blame but yourself for this.

It hardly matters whether the review was read to her by another guy, or she found it for for herself.  One HAS to assume that the lady will have internet access, or somehow have contact with someone else that has internet access, and thus will see the review.  The REAL question is, how did she know the SOURCE of the review?

YOU are the one who created the situation, by telling her UP FRONT that you would be reviewing her.  By doing that, you can only have hoped to manipulate her into a more favorable session.  And the value of your review to others is inherently diminshed.  If you want to tell the lady ahead of time that you are going to review her, you need to put up with the consequences.

Now I will admit that I have told ladies that I planned to review them, but ONLY AFTER the session, and ONLY when it was to be a highly favorable review and I wanted to give them the opportunity to Opt OUT of being reviewed, because I cared for their feelings on the subject.  I have NEVER used the implied threat of a review to influence a session.  I have only asked a lady who deserved a very good review, if she was in any way concerned about getting one - after all, some of the best providers have all of the business that they want, and they would prefer LESS visibility.

And, FYI, once a lady truly knows who you are, (real name, phone #, address, etc.) you are taking any number of risks in giving her a less than favorable review.  Don't underestimate these, as you are messing with their livelihood.  This is the MAIN reason not to tell someone you might review them before the fact:  Your own well being if you want to disclose some unpleasant truths!

dman, although I agree with most of your statement there are issues not addressed in the original message. First be very sure that I did not "sell" my review to manipulate/influence a better session. In fact it was recommended to her by her friend(Tawny) who experienced an immediate increase in calls when her review hit the street.(Tawny found out who it was through another hobiest and phoned me to confirm if I indeed had provided the review and wanted to thank me.) With regard to the review of Megan, I asked her after the session if she wanted the review and she stated she did not care. My beef/concern was with the hobiest who I feel should of been more descrete with regard to what he saw/read. The fact that Megan called me bothers me in the least, I will ask TER to remove the review at her request. I just wanted to give as many hobbiest the opportunity to read prior to it being removed... Have a nice day... J
