LE question for hobby vets and staff too

I wonder if the LE activity escalated since TER began running full page ads in national publications.  If anyone would have noticed a sharp upswing it would have you been folks in SD.

I realize TER is a business, probably has investors to answer to or atleast an owner trying to make money. So on one hand running ads to try to drum up membership and increase page views (thus justifying charges to advertisers and VIP members) makes a little bit of sense. But in the overall scheme of things I thought it was CRAZY!!!!

Its seems like TER as a business is asking for trouble for its members. Which would be bad for business in the long term! BTW- I'm not talking about obscure posts in some back alley magazine I'm talking about full page ads in Penthouse and other large publications.

Hell I'd rather my membership fee be increased than have attention drawn to our little fantasy world.

Am I wrong on this? Am I minimizing the other side of this argument?  I sure hope so!

gee wiz, you sort of burst my bubble. I thought this was my own little world in here. I had no idea TER was doing that level of national (possibly international) advertizing. If TER gets to be full of doughnut eaters and busted providers, then we will just pay our money to yet another board and begin again. I hope that doesnt happen, I like it here, even if I am not a participant in the hobby anymore. It just nice to know you guys are holding up our end out there.

is always twofold - good and bad.

Those who smoke cigarettes, do you do so more, or less because of advertising? It probably didn't make any difference..

What I think advertising in Playboy does positively bring, however, is the fact that it is more the 'mainstream' way than ever before, and is often referred to as Millenium Dating. The old saying, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' works also in the reverse with this saying, 'the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.'
OUR 'HOBBY' WORKS. Plain and simple. It will always be here to stay. The only thing that will change is what happens, and peoples' attitudes towards it.
People will finally realize that this is a private matter between consenting adults and it is ridiculous to consider it illegal.
Yet cigarettes and alcohol ARE legal (if of age), and yet they harm lives by the thousands every year.

I don't have any fear that TER advertises largely, or that LE reads the boards (it might actually be good! maybe they don't care much for the law either, they just have to uphold it).

I do care that we all play smart, and follow the rules, and do the best we can.

not one good thing associated with it, and yet our Hobby IS! (?)
