Missing Reviews - A PROBLEM

Let me say that posting a review takes some time.  It's NOT a couple clicks and you're done.  When reviewing, I ALWAYS think out what I'm going to say, and try to put the best light on it.  That being said, I must say I was very disappointed to find a review that I posted a couple days ago was taken down.  I asked STAFF and they said it was taken down because the provider didnt want any reviews posted. Hmmmm.  Isn't that request contrary to  this sites existence?  My review was not glowing, but I think the provider is not telling the whole story either.  Thoughts?

I have been considering subscribing for VIP membership.  Give this I don't think I will.  What is the point if we are going to edit reviews based on what the provider wants.

Perhaps some more specifics on this policy would change my mind.

I agree with you NCG!
If we are to contribute and share what we know, I think it should be everything. Good or bad. To censor the reviews doesn't make sense. We all have to take into consideration that people have different opinions. That's what makes this (and other discussion boards) what they are. I think as big kids now, we should be able to make our own decisions about what we read.

WOW, you review deleted.  That is the whole point of this forum and if your review gets deleted, then there is no reason to keep subscribing.

I alway ask the girl if it is okay to post a review, so far all have said yes. But what if the rip offs or 'barely worth the effort' call TER and ask to have those reviews deleted!  Think about it.

What TER should have done was email you telling you of the problem, maybe the review said too much.  Maybe she did something with you she does for few other (I had this happen) and she doesn't want everyone to expect that?

email TER - ask them what is up, then let us know!

This is the official reply I recieved from TER staff:

"It has nothing to do with being negative. We cannot force a provider to be reviewed. If the provider does not want her information posted, we respect her wishes. Incidentally, we have more requests to remove profiles of providers who have good reviews than providers who have bad reviews."

As a web developer myself, I have a strong desire to create a site like this one, with the EXCEPTION that it is run by the hobbiest and NOT the provider.  I wonder how consumer reports gets away with it?  If everytime a product gets a bad review, that company says, "NO - don't publish it", WE as consumers would SUFFER.  The same is going on HERE.  To me, this is total BS.  Thoughts??  Anyone else interested inbuilding a better mousetrap?

Northcountyguy, I clicked on the link on your post that takes a person to your reviews. Your most recent review is there. The link to the providers profile doesn't work however.
TER has done this before. They make the providers page inactive so it doesn't show up in a search, and there is no links or phone number. But for some reason they don't delete the actual review. So if you you know where to find the web page of the provider you are home free.

For some reason people post links to providers in discussion all the time, and no one bats an eye. So maybe the reviews need to move to the open discussion area.

My review was of Zoe and it is NOT STILL there.  Zoe said she doesnt want reviews posted, so TER staff is obliging(sp).  Anyhow, this whole incident makes me wonder how many people could have saved money on this and other providers.

I personally know a couple of providers in the area that have been arrested lately.  In one specific case, the provider was told by LE that the internet was used to build the case against her.

I admit that I use these boards for information but do not post reviews because the ladies I have seen locally do not want to be reviewed.  Rather than post reviews, I share information via email to known posters on the boards.  This keeps the information out of the view of LE.  I guess LE could put post as a user over a prolonged period but because of the reviews, they don't really need to.  The just log on and find the next target.

I think that anybody who has ripped somebody off should be reviewed on any forum you can find.  If you find a lady who provides a good service, you should ask her if she minds a review.  Many local ladies do not want a review because of LE fears.  Even if a lady has an ad on the net, it doesn't say that she provides "BBBJ, FS, DATY, or anything graphic." Sure the ladies can make a good living as a provider, but the risks they run are much greater than ours.

By the way, has anybody noticed the increase in the number of reviews for SD Day Spa.  With all the LE pressure lately, it makes me wonder if LE is planting great reviews to set up a sting on the gentlemen.

I definitely understand reviewing and discretion that goes along w/ it.  This specific case was one of mis-representation of the provider.  I was simply trying to warn others.  While NOT a dance and dash, there were alot of questions needing answering about Zoe.  There are always the set of providers who really stretch the truth and want you to believe something by omission of facts, rather than lying

I have to agree with sdJim. Being a part time
hobbiest, Id rather see reviews and get private
email on the ripoffs since they are the ones
we all want to avoid.  The ladies that
do provide a good and enjoyable time should
be closely guarded by us so they avoid and
LE problems.

I very much doubt that any thing on this board could be used as evidence in a trial.  It is all hearsay.  Anybody could post any thing.  At best, LE migh be able to use it as justification for a search warrent.  If a provider is posted on the internet she is already calling attention to her self.  I have to admit to being skeptical about this as a good rational for allowing providers to opt out.  I would very much like to know TER's rationall for this  policy.  What am I buying for $50/quarter.

It also beggs the question.  Why would the rip-offs allow their reviews to stand if they can just ask to have them expunged.  This has to cost them business.

Bottom line.  The policy on reviews should be clearly stated on the board so we all know what the rules are.

Any mention of an escort on the internet whether graphic or not is a target.  LE could care less if a lady does bbbj, anal, kiss, or whatever.  It's such a big overhyped misconception about graphic reviews.  If someone just writes "she was nice and a joy to be with".  Does anybody honestly beleive LE would read that and think it was a "legitimate date" or nothing illegal happend?  Of course not.  They are just as big a target as if you printed she does cowgirl the best.  The LE can use the internet to target a provider.  If a provider advertises her services on the net she is taking the risk to be targeted.  LE can not use anything on the internet written about the provider such as graphic details or reviews.  It's called hersay.  Cannot be used in any criminal court.

Finally on the editing and not posting reviews is b.s.  It's censorship in the worst way.  If a provider doesn't want to be reviewed, fine then.  Tell her to get another job then.  ALL reviews should be posted UNCENSORED!

Seems like there are two sides to this issue, but TER's lack of participation in this discussion is puzzling, since the reviewers are the customers.

Perhaps, for providers who don't wish to be reviewed, an abbreviated review can be provided.  Leave most of the fields blank, as well as the general and juicy details.  Include a statement that the provider prefers no reviews.  But certainly include numerical ratings and whether or not the provider delivers as promised.

I wonder whether a "ripoff" review would be deleted by TER at the provider's request.  People like Austin and Bridgette would thrive!

Vantana, sorry I didn't get a chance to reply to this thread as quickly I as would have liked.  It is not so much "TER's silence on this issue" more like "TER didn't see the thread." Sorry, sometimes with 14 boards going, it happens.

For the current topic, our general policy:

We don't remove individual reviews unless they are inaccurate and do not follow with the rest. (i.e. the girl does not do x,x,x and the review says she does)

We do not remove rip-off’s profiles.

Though it does not happen very often, there are some providers who just simply do not want to be reviewed.  If they are not a rip-off, then generally we respect their wishes and remove the profile.   Maybe this should be one of the factors you use when you select your entertainment?

There will eventually be a section of the site where we list providers that have asked TER to remove their profiles.

You have to ask why a provider wouldn't want to be reviewed.  And to some extent it's beyond the providers' right - the whole POINT of the board is to get the word - good, bad & unusual in any way - around.  Imagine any other business asking you not repeat your views about them to others - hmmm??

Given that many unfavorable reviews fall just short of total ripoff, it seems that at least a numerical rating should be preserved in your archives regardless of the provider's wishes.  If they want to be anonymous, they should negotiate that with their customers or find another career, especially if they provide inferior service.

I agree with you here. The beauty of the internet is that it has very little content liability.

It seems to me that the provider has no influence on my opinion of services provided after we say good bye, and a truely open forum cannot mitigate my opinion. With that in mind, the website does not "force a provider to be reviewed", it is simply a medium in which to transmit our opinions.

If the opinions posted in this "open forum" are available to subjective (arbitrary?) censureship by the providers and staff, then the forum looses more than value, it looses credibility. All reviews are subject to question at that point.
