A client made an appointment today and because he said he couldn't get his money out of the bank, and I don't take credit cards, he used paypal. Once I checked his references and had recieved notice of his payment, I gave him the OK to come to see me...he was an hour and a half late...But once here, he indulged in all the full-service benefits, then after an hour and 20 minutes, showered, and was on his way. This evening I got an email that he had cancelled his payment...So ladies..BEWARE of this guy...!!! He goes by "Assbusty" and I also have his real name, if anyone is interested...PM me and I will give it to all who wants it...!!! This one is a real piece of work....I've NEVER had this happen, but I guess there is a first time for everything...I learned a valuable lesson, unfortunately, he has ruined it for other paypaler's, Very sad indeed...!!! That is a shame what happened -- though I don't personally use PayPal for the hobby, cash rules.
However, I *think* there is a way to accept PayPal payments and be 'safe': by accepting only payment from the account directly, NOT from a credit card. Meaning that the PayPal account holder has to have transferred money from his bank account to the PayPal account, and then pays with funds PayPal already holds.
A number of eBay sellers are requiring this.
The problem? Transferring money from bank account to PayPal account can take 3-4 days, meaning it's not suitable for spur of the moment payments... and if one has 3-4 days, there's probably time to get cash instead... So its use is mainly for situations where people don't want to carry/transfer large amounts of cash.
That's interesting, but how can you be sure it's not from a credit card..?? I'm still learning, but I would hate to think I can't use paypal any more because of this. Plus, if a guy joins a pay site using a credit card, which is usually the case, can he cancel the payment AFTER he's already visited the site...? If so, what a scam...!!! We girls, need to know about this type of Rip-off, since I'm sure I'm not the only one putting up a paysite as well....Thanks Sweetie for caring...Hugs, Robyn
It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to reverse Paypal charges.... and even more difficult to get the credit card company to agree, unless this guy is tied to them somehow.
He has to submit extensive letters, and it takes time. Not only that, both Paypal and the credit card company would have to contact you first before removing his charge.
That's not exactly true. I had a dispute with a client and after paypal reviewed both of our versions of what happened, they said they would take no action. He complained to his credit card company and without discussing the matter with paypal or me, they reversed the charges, and paypal came after me to return the funds. I refused and they turned me over to a collection agency. And if paypal finds out the transaction was for something illegal, they will allow the charges to be reversed. Sedagive.
With the money you are making, get your own credit card machine (it can be the low cost "roller" style)... you will get a signature and make it virtually impossible for anyone to make any claim....
It's odd that the Credit Card/Payapl would only condemn one party involved in the "illegal" act, and not the other.
ness, your comment, "with the money you are making, get your own credit card machine..." really cracks me up. I'd love to know where you are getting your information. Sedagive.
Me too...Are you my accountant...???LOL Seriously though, this was a wake-up call, I've just been too trusting...What I didn't know, but know now is, as soon as one receives confirmation of the deposit, they should transfer the money to another account...I'm much wiser now...we live and learn...
Basically, if a purchaser of goods or services complains to PayPal that what was delivered was not what they "ordered" and that the item was prepaid and the merchant refused to refund even though the item was returned due to the delivered item not being correct PayPal, by nature of being eBay's credit system, will seem to agree with the buyer over the seller. I'm not saying this is right, just how they seem to think and things seem to be.
Since there are ways to prevent this I suggest some lessons in online cash transfer or ACH, etc. are in order for our finest cities ladies...I'll be more than willing to trade advice for "advice"....heck, I'll even supply dinner and wine. I can be reached at [email protected]
