Yeah but for that matter so is this board or any network traffic for that matter.  If its electronic it can be sniffed.  :-)

I like Mya's idea. Record? What record?

If you're really paranoid dont use regular cell phones either. Use CDMA phones only.  :-)

After reading an article today's Sunday Union Tribune about a Carlsbad escort service owner convicted of pimping and pandering, I was curious what LE can do with the names and phone numbers of the hobbyists that they found in owner's home.  The article states they found a database of his customers.  Is that something a hobbyist should be concerned about?

and don't fill out those online 'application' things some providers are asking for...email is public record and could bite you in the ass

Hi Newbie Eric - Welcome Bro to this discussion forum.  You asked a very good question.  The answer is they cant do anything with this info.  With just names and numbers they have no probable cause.  I wouldnt worry Eric.  Most of the providers will tell you that they throw away your highly personal info that you willingly provide.  No worries Bro and welcome to San Diego!  Now, be safe out there.

He prefers jelly-filled burritos made from holey tortillas! You are not satfe with his kind out there.

If he says he wants to "back-channel" you,....then run real fast!!

Legally, they need a lot more than your name and phone number in an escort service owner's database to get a conviction.  However, LE has been known to turn over the lists to newspapers.  Newspapers love publishing those lists, so it's definitely something a hobbyist should be concerned with.

simple to avoid services.  I've not had geat experience with them in general. AS to you name being in a database, not much problem de facto.  But it could be made public knowledge, but the publisher is taking a large libel risk.  Hopefully, the agency dos not keep records of dates, etc. and knows who to wipe data from disks (not just delete).  the later may be doubtful.

Perhaps the best thing the agencies/providers could do if add the names of a bunch of judges , police detectives  and newpaper editors to their databases.
