Hey guys, I was just trying to say hi earlier but kept having my posts omitted from the board for some reason. So I had a friend try for me and say hi and ask about me on here because I didn't know what I was doing wrong and I thought maybe it would work for him. I knew people were trying to get a hold of me and didn't know how. Unfortunately I think I caught a cold or flu or something early yesterday so I won't be available at all today.
I really hate to beat this fu**ing (not quite dead) horse again but do you really think that anyone reputable on this board is going to kick down any information about anyone to someone using an alias? What's the deal? What are you afraid of? I could almost understand using one if you were asking about the appropriate method of treating a social disease that "a friend of yours" picked up somewhere, but asking for information about a girl using one is something only an uninformed newbie, LE on a fishing trip or a complete idiot would do and not necessarily in that order. If you really want information on her then post the request using your REAL username so VIP's that know you as being legit can backchannel it to you or else strap on some balls, call her and find out for yourself. I think I need to keep a copy of this as a word doc so I can copy and paste it rather than pull a slightly modified version if it out of my head every other week. It gets old.

how does one recognize if post is by alias? --- hope this doesn't result in a flaming response, but if warranted, could you at least point to FAQ or previous thread describing the difference? thanks
The only way that I know of is to look up at the date and time of the post and see if there is an envelope icon next to the name. Such as: Posted by gordo, 12/9/2003 11:20:00 AM. If you don't see an envelope next to gordo, then it's an alias.
Gordo, thanks for the answer that I have been seeking. Tried contacting TER 2 times--no reply; tried the newbie and the FAQ sections without results. Would be interested in how you found the answer. Thanks again.
The envelope is there regardless whether you're a VIP or not, as long as you're a member. The envelope only diosappears if you're using an alias. If you'd like toverify this, check me out on htis message - I'm NOT currently a VIP and this is not an alias (although I do use one from time to time).
