I was just wondering what some of the people here on the board thought...Would you consider telling close personal friends that you participate in "the hobby"? Has anybody done it? And for those that have told someone, what was their reaction like? Did they look at you differently? Are they still your friends? This is a really big deal for me because this buddy of mine and his wife, well, I've known him for years and he just married her about six months ago, so I haven't known her that long...Anyway they still think I haven't gotten laid, and we got to joking/talking about "paying for it", going to the bunny ranch (if he was still single of course), etc. So far I've only told them that I've thought about doing all this, did some research, things like that. But I don't know if I should actually say I've already done it and still doing it. What does everyone think? I mean, this isn't exactly something you wanna go telling the whole world about, or maybe even anybody...
If you do tell them, do it with the expectation thye will not keep it secret. I'm not saying your friends aren't worthy. But this kind of information is very juicy to some and hard to keep contained. They may tell others " I know a guy who..." and by association others would figure out it's you. My best advice is that if you want your hobbying to remain secret, keep it to yourself and that that burden is part of the cost of the hobby.
Very well put. I totally agree. And you can't unring a bell. You could just respond more vaguely, "DOn't worry about me, I get the job done. (Eyebrow expression)"

Coming out of s feckless and fuckless marriage, I've told several friends about my new "hobby," and they agree its much less expensive than marriage. Plus, there's the age factor (me 50, she 20, like that would ever happen in real life. I wouldn't break any social bubbles, but it's nothing to be ashamed about.
I told a buddy of mine by playing golf at Real Del Mar in TJ, and stopping at Adelitas after the golf. He is now a willing participant at AB. I'm not too sure that process will work for everyone though, as is the general thread on this board, use caution.
