Anyone just see the news at 11:00 on CH 7/39?? They did a peice on On-Line prostitution.........and vice was on saying they are launching an all out war on the internet. Can you beleave this?? They say that LE is taking out ad's on the internet to get to the hobbyst! OK this is new? But they did have the lingo kinda down. Well be careful everyone and play nice!

In case you haven't noticed, LE has been targeting both escorts and hobbyist in SD for quite a while.  Some ladies get calls from LE all the time and they are on to their games.  The ads targeted to get hobbyists are pretty obvious as well.

Since you are so clever, and are probably monitoring these boards, I assume you probably will read this.

All you are doing is "thinning the heard", catching people that are less careful.  You are inevitably going to make those of us that aren't getting caught more careful, more clever, more talented.

It is one thing to go after street prostitutes and johns - this can be construed as a visual blight on a community.  I can even see you going after "massage" parlors, whether or not I agree with it.  But going after people that operate on the Internet, and pretty much do their thing out of the public eye - that is social engineering, plain and simple.  This is akin to going after everybody that smokes a joint once a month at home.

Have fun with your little sting.  I still respect most police officers, even those working on these types of stings.  But don't be surprised when I stop giving donations to your charities or funds, assholes.

The truth be told, I bet there is a higher percent of cops than regulars who cheat on their wives and are hobbiest themselves. What kind of man would want to work that area of vice? How cheesy and lame of a job is that? Actually, I feel sorry for the pricks.

Just FYI,,,sweeps don't start until Feb.

Let them work away at something that really is a threat to our society..Perhaps Bin Laden is a TER MEMBER and ..they might catch him in a sting.

I will forward advice..on the art of intellectual law and the electronic sting..to those that need it..as I have been on that side and know how to play the game. The system can sometimes work..against itself..if one knows how to play the game..and play it well.

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police have a new tactic to go after johns looking online for sex.

Female vice detectives in have been placing ads on escort Web sites, posing as prostitutes to lure johns into an Internet sting.

Detectives said that once the john offers money for sex in an e-mail or in an Internet chat room, they are making arrests.

Police said that a lot of men think they're safer hiring a hooker online, but police said that the opposite is true --- the anonymity of the Internet is leading to more violent crime against johns and prostitutes.

"They've been assaulted, and the john's themselves have been drugged and ripped off," said Sgt. Mark Sullivan of the San Diego Police Department.

Law-enforcement officials said that the program has been extremely effective since it began more than a year ago and that most of the johns who are arrested are first-time offenders.

response to the Sgt. comments in the above post:it seems you(LE, because we know you read here) are trying to make this a righteous crusade by protecting us from rip-offs and being drugged.  here is some news for you: there is an inherent risk in all things.  we choose this.  as with being a LE you could take a bullet, risky.  the internet belongs to the people of the world not the police of the world who would like to instill fear.  don't do this or that or we'll catch you, jail you, humiliate you, embarass you, destroy your career, credibility ect., ect....why aren't you at the clubs/bars/restaurants arresting us when we find a woman there or have brought one we just met on internet dating sites, or met anyplace and it is agreed upon to go back and engage ourselves in sexual activity.  the soliciting is there with money paid out for food, drink, possible accomodations,flowers,gas, ect.  the illicit activity of touching, kissing even fondling at the table or bar is there. why aren't you there aresting us then or protecting us from one another in case of transmuatble disease, possible psychotic history or s&m actions that go too far?  you say you are mostly catching first offenders, are they the bad guys of society, are any of us, now for wanting comfort from a woman.  murderers, thieves and robbers we must be.  history shows that the people do not like to live in fear of their governments.

I agree with Hamsterdick from a previous post. If all the "suspect" websites were posted here, then L.E. would easily know what has been sniffed out. It is best to do your homeowrk and check regularly for posts on this issue.

What are they thinking. The department is so short of money that the supervisors watch overtime like a hawk, they have so much trouble finding cars that are 100% functional that they have to double up on officers, and there are times that the ABLE helicopter is grounded because they don’t want to pay for the personnel to fly it. Maybe Arnie cutting funding to local governments is a good thing in that if they get real strapped for cash they will drop idiot programs like this.

Well it goes with the territory in San Diego.  San Diego at one time was a very happening city for escorts.  I think the golden
days of escorting were between 1978-1992.  During this time escorts were even advertising in the SD Union.  Under the heading tab in the paper the Massage agencies thrived. Agencies were everywhere : Point Loma, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Rancho Bernardo and Poway to name a few places.  I knew most of the owners here and they were for the most part loyal citizens who provided an adult and private service.  After the Union decided not to allow advertising they merely place ads in the yellow pages.  The girls were definitely hot.  I mean exceptionally hot.  They were young 20-24 years old toned, tanned fit gals who engaged in escorting for economic purposes while they went to college or readjusted after a personal setback(i.e. divorce, loss of job, etc.) Even the older gals they hired were terrific.  It was not uncommon to see a great looking gal 28-35 who was doing this because her ex boyfriend or husband stuck her with kids and flew the nest.  It was a different time but a private time. I knew many of the girls because of an unique relationship I had with one of the premier owners. Knew his nephew and went to school with him.  Most of the girls did not do drugs and were very straight laced.  It was just the era.  NO tatoos, body piercings, or other weird elements on their body.  After 1992 the City required licensing of escorts here.
The girls scattered.  I cannot tell you the shockwaves this sent throughout the escort community.  Combined with Magic Johnson, the whole scene dried up.  Most current agencies are cash and dash with girls half the quality.  Current news of street walkers is a red herring in my opinion because you should not engage in this activity for health and public policy reasons.  These gals are literally toasted (i.e. drugs, gangs, pimps and all the other low life qualities this way of life brings on.)  I know longer hobby.  I am now married. So I wanted to share a last word.  I do see socially many of those great pre 1992 gals in the community from time to time.  Many are in middle mgt business position, lawyers, RE brokers and on and on. So there it is in a nutshell guys.  If you meet someone treat her well and try keep it private or Privte Message someone.  I know this board serves as a good source of info but there are alot of unwanted eyes out there.
