If you have any idea in the world how to recover things on a computer when you have to reinstall the operating system and applications, please let me know. I'm fairly knowledgeable of computers and applications so this will be something complicated. I have done a search for files that I know were on there and I cannot find them. What was on my D: drive is still present. It is only what was on my C: drive that was overwritten.

Your help is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your consideration.

usually with windows 2000 when you install it, it wipes out all the files, I think you are not going to recover any files like the address book. Sorry

Although it IS possible to recover data from a hard drive EVEN IF THE OPERATING SYSTEM HAS BEEN REINSTALLED, it is not a simple task. It would require the hard drive to be removed, and systematically "mirrored" onto another drive, then uncompressed and re-written onto your drive.
If this is something you are interested in having done, I can help. It would take app. a day to get done, but in most cases ALL data can be restored.
