Thanks for the info, sdstud.  I'm just toying with an idea at this point, but there are more questions than I have answers.  For example, if I buy a changeable/refundable ticket in the provider's name, who controls the ticket?  Hypothetically, could a provider who decides to pull a fast one simply change the ticket to another destination, paying the change fees herself, and take a vacation somewhere at my expense?  Or could she simply take the ticket to the carrier and obtain a refund herself?  If I pay for the ticket by credit card, could someone holding the ticket charge any change fees to the credit card even if she doesn't have the credit card number?  Your suggestion about using frequent flier miles is intriguing, because I believe the restrictions on changes are less, and there is no cash that can be extracted if the ticket is cancelled.

How do you think a provider would feel about getting the ticket herself and have the client reimburse her when she shows up (assuming maybe a $500 itinerary)?   Seems to me the risk of the client not showing up is relatively low, and even if that did happen, the provider could always "hang out her shingle" for a while to make it up.

Just curious about the expectations and best protocol if one pays for a provider to fly in to town.  I imagine the escort would expect a ticket to be provided to her, rather than being out the money for the flight.  However, the only way I could see doing this would be to pay for an e-ticket, rather than sending her the payment, but that would require her to divulge her real name, right?  Or maybe I could put her in touch with a travel agent known to me so at least there is some sort of "escrow."  Then the provider would only need to divulge her real first name, and I could tell the travel agent "please book a ticket for 'my friend Jane' to fly from X to Y.........etc.

Her real name would be known to the company, but only her email address would be known to you.  You can use your credit card or bank account # to pay her and that is also confidential.

And frankly, given the reliability of some of the ladies, I wouldn't even get a ticket that was not changeable/refundable.  In order to do this at reasonable cost, I almost always use my frequent flyer miles when booking a ticket for a lady to travel to me or with me.  And make it an E-ticket, which can only be changed with YOUR credit card # and/or FF#.

As much as 1/3 of the time, the need to refund or alter the ticket has ended up being a significant issue.

It's an issue of mutual trust.  You are putting out a significant overall outlay here (I'm assuming, well into 4 digits overall).  If you haven't been together enough to have this level of mutual trust, I'd strongly urge you to carefully reconsider whether this provider is one you should actually book for this type of an adventure.

FYI, the flexibility with refunds and changes is why I prefer to use FF miles with these tickets.  Generally, there is a nominal addition of taxes that must be handled with a credit card.  The person who controls the changes to the ticket is anyone who has the CC# and the FF#, which, unless you give it to her, would be you.

When you buy a ticket, again, the requirement to change it is the CC# that was used to buy it, plus any restrictions on the ticket.  E-ticket receipts do not show the entire CC# on them.

Most ladies I know will not lay out the cost of the ticket for reimbursement unless you are a VERY special regular.  They will all tell you that the risk of being cancelled on is far higher than you'd imagine, unless the client has already paid a significant portion of the total fee up front.

flown with or flew a lady in I've always known her real name. I wouldn't consider doing this with someone I haven't seen before, probably several times. Mutual trust AND compatability are very important.
A quick story on how it can work in reverse.---A very well known, high end Las Vegas provider told me the following: She was sent a first class round trip ticket to the east coast by someone she had never seen before. They had exchanged many emails and phone calls, and she felt comfortable with everything. The date was for the weekend. On Sunday afternoon he called her a limo for the ride to the airport and then disappeared, never paid her a cent. Was it partly her fault, probably. Thats why many ladies are demanding deposits.

Have to have her real name and DEFINTIELY get a refundable ticket. Make it an e-ticket. Paper tickets are like cash. That will gurantee she will arrive or you will get your money back. No way to guarantee performance once she arrives, but you still have control over the return flight (you can just cancel it). The key with this type of visit is to be as clear up front Exactly what is expected. How many visits (hrs) per day. What is her free time. What is not. Availablilty. Can she book other apts while here. Maybe you can refer a friend or two to help her with spending money. Good luck.

With an e-ticket, can't the person whose name is on the ticket modify the itinerary to travel elsewhere?
