Regarding being assaulted by cops off duty~~ Reporting

I am responding to the thread started earlier wherein a lady stated that more than a couple of providers had been assaulted and robbed by men self reporting to be off duty law enforcement.

I strongly suggest that those ladies have the gumption to report those crimes against them, although never having been a victim, I can't say how that would feel personally.  Certainly, airtight screening procedures aren't the only answer as cops often have businesses on the side that would provide them with enough information to make a date.

What I would most importantly like to suggest is to NEVER NEVER report to the unit that you suspect the cops came from.  If it was me reporting I'd start at the District Attorney's office.  Save the District Attorney, INTERNAL AFFAIRS of the jurisdiction that covers the area in which the crime was committed.

Quite likely, after the story is told, you will be shuffled back to a more localized unit, however your initial documentation being outside of the local unit, is important, JUST IN CASE these are cops gone bad.

This obviously takes alot of backbone, stamina and courage, and is really about helping the next lady down the line.
