The beach area by the Oceanside Pier is pretty decent, but usually crowded.
Moonlight Beach is pretty good, but also usually crowded.
The best beach in San Diego County is probably Windandsea in La Jolla. It's pretty secluded, quiet & the views are gorgeous. That's usually the beach where a lot of photo shoots are done (Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, Maxim, FHM, etc.)
Ok, I am becoming smitten with your area! I was asked to come out from Vegas for an overnight, and now find myself ensconced in a lovely resort with the whole day to explore. I am so excited to take a long walk aling the ocean. Question is, where? It doesn't have to be a swimming beach...a little too chilly for that. Privay, scenic quality, ambiance are important. Any suggestions?? And maybe a seaside lunch spot? Thanks! xoClair

Eat at Roberto's, North Highway 101, Solana Beach, CA, and then from the State Beach walk south - small little coves and very few peeps. Just don't get trapped by a high tide lol.
Sat. am.... I am headed for Solana Bch now~~ i've had Breakfast in a little cafe in Del Mar, and watched the middle aged surfers out there while the moms played with the kids in the park...
Caught happy hour at Jake's last night Giving myself over to the day. What a feeling! And it's almost time for the fog to burn off.
