I just compared my ss card and dl and they are different - one has the initial, the other the full middle name.  Not only did I just renew my license, but I ALSO purchased a firearm and renewed my voter registration.

went and looked at your SS cards and compared how your name reads against your DL, and saw that they were not EXACTLY a match? (ie, if your SS card says Mary E Brown, but your DL says Mary Elizabeth Brown - that is NOT a match! And you will not be issued a license!)

I'm guessing that, at least in CA, about 60-70% will not match?

It is worth it to look now and get it changed at the SS office nearest you, or it will only get more difficult.

And get this, with all the ID theft, etc. and needing to guard your personal information, etc. ESPECIALLY your SS #, I thought it so ironic to find that when I went, you are seated with your representative, right smack in the public area, where they mention your name and social several times, rather loudly! No privacy! Ugh!

I live in GA, and tghe state stopped using SS# on the direvers license about 10 years ago.

Using SS# on the drivers is about the worst security breach one can carry around in their pockets.

the FEDERAL law is that your name on your DL (regardless of which state) MUST match EXACTLY as your SS, or you will NOT be issued a license.

So, you'll want to check..it likely won't since the forms on the SS usually wanted only middle initial (in the past), and the forms for DL wanted full first, middle and last.

I just renewed my DL also, and no one asked me anything about my SS#.  Never been a problem in the past either!

as I did this year, but they wouldn't issue a license until my name matched exactly..

Then it leads me to believe it's random selection until eventually everyone is on board.

I think most will notice that it's the middle initial versus the full name as that is how the forms were, some time ago.
