I think it depends on what the reason is. Some providers change their name and/or their contact info because they don't want to be associated with bad reviews or other negative stuff. On the other hand, we grow as we speed through this life, and if during that growth you want people to see you more accurately for who you are now, then great!

Personally, I think you will be sexy and beautiful no matter what your name is!

Changing your name would have no impact on me. After all, it is a so called "stage" name in the first place. I would excercise caution on the review front. I believe TER will carry over your reviews from the old name but you would have to check with them. Not sure about the other review site that is principally big in San Fran and the Central Valley (can't mention the name here or they won't post this-I was the first one to review you on that site). The other choice would be to start afresh, but why waste all those great reviews. I do know one other provider (rated in the top 5 in a big city on TER) that started over with a new name with no carry over of her reviews and it appears to not have had a negative impact. But why take the chance? I guess if you want to "change the way I present myself to the hobby" then you will likely have to start over with the new name and no reviews?

personally i don't think i would ever change my name unless there were a safety issue.
my concern would be someone else taking over my name.
another concern would be the reason for the change and the way it was done.
u announcing it is very helpful. doing it quietly would likely lose u business unless u continued posting as sagelove elsewhere.

the question is will u keep the same account here (same reviews and such, just SWITCH names) or will u be erasing the sage chapter completely? i feel keeping the old reviews will help to legitimize ur new alias as well as keep sage fans able to find u. becoming someone NEW totally may make it look like ur running from bad reviews or something... prob not, but thats how it will look unless one reads every review.

Re-branding

Rebranding will definitely have a short term affect on business. But knowing you, that won't last long. The classic rebranding fiasco was the New Coke, but it failed entirely. I agree with AM, if it makes you feel good about yourself, do it. Just make sure I know who you arre.

More power to you girlie. I contacted the TER staff a few months ago with a similar situation..

After 6 or so years of being the only Belle around another one popped up one the scene (not sure where she went).  Everyone knows there can only be one Belle (sly grin).  I was interested in adding a last name.  They were willing to list me as Belle ??? / Belle or even re-list me altogether with my new name AND I was going to be able to keep my reviews which was important to me.  I was also going to be able to change my screen name altogether.  I am not sure if this is standard or only because someone used my name but I am pretty sure it is standard.

I do, however, have a problem if a provider goes through 3, 4, 5 different names and somehow has the slate wiped clean and her reviews start completely over with the last name she chooses.  THAT DEFEATS the PURPOSES of the review system, whether the reviews were good or bad, and I tend to think there is a degree of sneakiness behind it if she doesn't make her motives clear.  What do I know though?  I only point this out because I have seen it happen more than once.  Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion on the matter.

Knowing you though doll, I trust what you want to do with all my heart.  To me you will just be an upgraded Sagey Baby!  I don't think you will lose business at all personally because we will all still know where to find you (smiles).  I hope you will make sure of that!
