This is intended to start conversation and it could get pretty spicy...Other TER message boards have a lot of comments lately concerning pricing / economy / service / Supply & Demand / etc.. You've seen them ( check General Discussion or LA ) There is a LOT of emotion out there it seems by reading the remarks. What do the SD hobbiests think about our SD scene? Yes, it's quiet at the moment thanks to LE. But aside from that? Does TJ really keep prices down here? Of the 4 major regions SF, LA, SD and LV, SD has the lowest average price and the smallest overall selection to choose from ( just check around and see ) What do you think about our situation compared to our friends north of us?Just jump starting conversation again....
DD...Although there are certainly many fun, kind gentlemen in the SD area...I must admit that I also seek out business in LA; and being that at least 40% of my clients live in either OC or LA--I am considering establishing a secondary incall there. To be honest, the primary reason is the price difference. First of all, LA clients nearly always book upfront a 2 to 4 hour appointment (in comparison to the SD usual of one hour, which usually ends up going into two hours...but for the one hour fee.) Also, compared to the rest of the LA scene--LA clients find my rates very reasonable for an un-rushed experience...whereas SD’s rates are much lower in general...making me seem like I’m asking for that which is on the high end of what SD considers to be acceptable. If I were to solely base my business on the SD scene, I’d have to greatly increase the number of clients that I saw in a week...which is something I’m not quite ready for. Please don’t take this as being anything negative about the scene here. I enjoy living here--and enjoy the slower-paced, relaxed atmosphere that is quite a contrast to the LA ambiance. But, the expected expenditure of SD clients (in general) seems to be much lower than that to which LA residents are accustomed.Perhaps there are less choices here because many ladies are more drawn to the financial possibilities of the LA scene, even though the LA setting seems far less than ideal...Just a thought...--modified by Perspicacity at Wed, May 30, 2001, 09:33:32
What is a reasonable $ amount for an hour (or so) of fine female companionship?I've seen girls for $$ that were out of this world. They weren't clock watchers and to use an overused phrase real were real GFE's. I've also seen girls for $$$$ that were just soso. For most of us money is not easy to come by, so we look to those who provide us with the friendliest, most unrushed experience. I'm willing to pay whatever the price they think they are worth, but they need to understand that this may be a one time a month thing for some and be willing to provide a fun interactive experiance that will leave us wanting to come back for more.Quality over quantity. But I also feel that anything over $$$ for an hour is pushing it.
The cost of any service is based on the client and only the client. If the price is too high, don't make the call. The providers asking for mega bucks are going to get the mega buck guys and if things are slow they will drop in line with what the average lug head can pay. It doesn't matter what area they work as there are only so many mega buck guys. As more providers go after the gold, the supply per provider shrinks. This is why I've witnessed the price swings in SD. As DD suggests, supply and demand will control a free economy. Most of the time I have a diffiuclt time raising the $$ fee and when I have gone on a spree, the service was no better with the $$$$$ and up girls. One of the best services, if not the best in SD is between $ and $$. That would be Susie. As for LA, one can find a covey of providers between $$ and $$$. Many are as good as the pricey gals. I don't think TJ has much effect on the marjority of clients because of disease concerns. In the past 7 years, I've had provider's raise their price's beyond my means and then watched as they either backed down or gone out of business. If a provider can get business at $$$$$ and up per hr. good for her and I wish ber good fortune. No hard feelings. I just can't afford it nor believe I woould pay more than OJ paid for his attorney's. (I do believe every provider is worth more than any grease ball attorney)
Thanks to TER I was able to see a multitude of FS GFE quality style women while in LA on business this week. No cash and dash, no "if you tip me more we can really have some fun, and the no touching" BS. Just nasty hardcore F*cking. And thanks to TER's search engine the price was the same as San Diego's going rate ($200).I am thinking of giving up entirely on my hometown and only pursuing my "hobby" when I travel.PS I called to setup a session with "Sophie" on SDX and some guy answered the phone and said, "I don't have any girls for today". Agency? I think so...Lustfully,SDSurfer619
SDSurfer619..."Just nasty hardcore F*cking," huh? Thanks for adding a note of eloquence to the discussion...
Just a thought, Perspicacity. Without any "real" reviews, how are we suppose to know that you're a bona fide provider, or worse, yet an LE plant. Or should we just take your word that you're a "true GFE"?
Besides, your statement in itself could be considered a bit suspicious:
How do we know you’re a real hobbyist and not an LE plant who wants the explicit reviews to continue to be written to make YOUR job easier? If not, why accuse me for expressing concerns about safety? Now, who’s a bit shady?
Yes, it's a difficult question to answer a priori. Behind these aliases and nom de plume's, how can we ascertain who is a real provider or a real client. Without external corroboration, it's almost impossible – hence the reason for this board's existence.
The staff of TER have chosen a unique economic model, which relies on both reviews and paying VIP members. The explicit reviews are the ‘engine' that powers TER, enticing VIP members to pay quarterly or monthly premiums for complete access to the site. Unlike so many other dot-bomb exercises, TER seems to be thriving. As it's presently constituted, TER would probably fail economically without these explicit reviews. If one takes your arguments to their logical extreme and imposes a policy of no explicit reviews, this site would collapse. To paraphrase the movie and book The Right Stuff: "No bucks, no TER!"
There are, of course, other economic models that could be used, such as The Big Doggie (i.e., TBD and your ‘other' board) which depends more on escort advertising. I, and I think other TER participants, have had real problems with TBD. The escort reviews are rife with self-posting and disorganized. The very acceptance of extensive escort advertising comprises TBD's integrity. Perhaps even more important was the removal of important threads on recent LE activity in S.D., which remain on TER (see below).
The way I use TER is as an insurance policy, to help me avoid escort rip-offs and LE. With sufficient reviews on TER from reliable, known poster, I have found great escort experiences in San Diego. I cannot say the same for similar postings on the S.D. TBD board. For this reason, I do not agree that your favorable review from an (essentially) anonymous TBD poster proves that you are real. You may, indeed, Perspicacity be the "real GFE", it's just that you haven't proven it with this one post. As they say, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof."
Needless, to say, I hope that you are the real deal. San Diego hobbyists can use all the help they can get.
{Note to DDHunter - if you view this as a "flame", please delete}
And at least one of my reviewers has a history of reviewing on TER, as well...
Look up the handle.
2senses,
You make an interesting and very large assumption as to the revenue model of TER being dependent upon the explicitness of the reviews.
An informal survey of the LA board and the post related to this topic tends to show a low importance placed on the "juicy details" section as it relates to value of the TER service.
Also as to validating the performance/existences of provider that could also be done without the Penthouse Reviews wannabe's that show up in many of the review details sections.
Also just curious could you have made the same decisions regarding the SD lady using the TER as your source of research without having ever read the juicy details?

You're right JP, that I'm making a number of inferences about TER's business model. However, revenue to pay for the service (salaries, bandwidth, servers, etc.) has to come from somewhere. Since Web-based businesses have been uniformly unsuccessful using an advertising-only model, I'm assuming that TER requires the money coming from the purchase of TER VIP memberships. Only TER staff knows for sure, and I don't think they're going to issue an IPO soon so that we can review their prospectus.
The one example that we have of an advertising-only model, TBD, seems to me to be defective. When scrolling through TBD's monthly escort reviews which look like a disorganized core dump, not only do I lose any interest in women, but also I almost lose the will to live.
> not only do I lose any interest in women,
> but also I almost lose the will to live
I could not have put it better!
