If you are calling yourself a new "hobbyist". This implies you have "hobbied". So, you should have some friends to help verify you.(?) If this isn't the case. Then honestly the guys can't help you too much advise wise. Each girl does things a diferent way. It's going to be up to the girl ultimately.
Also note: If you mention you are hobbying, or imply it's a one time thing. 'Some' girls may pass, just because they don't wish to be the flavor of the week. (most likely your more est. GFE, ATF, MILF types)
Please remember the girl always has the right to say yes or no for whatever reason. Never take it personal.
Being self employed you could try becoming a memeber of some sort of date checking site. Or ask someone you met to refer you for membership.
These are just 'my' observations. I'm sure others have tips and opinions from their experience.

Being a new hobbyist who is self employed I'm wondering how I'm going to get the verification that the providers are asking for. Can any of the providers or can any of you more experienced hobbyists help me out with some ideas? I tried reading the FAQ for Newbies but didn't find a post regarding this question. Thanks

Yes I probably misstated my position when saying I'm a new hobbyist. I should have said I am intrigued by the idea and would like to become an active hobbyist. I'm not in this for a one time thing. I've checked out Date-Check and they seem pretty comprehensive but like you mentioned it's going to be up to each provider to make her own decision.
