Actually I was thinking about it. In sales, it's the creation of the appearance of scarcity. Sometimes called the "take away close." It's one of the biggest motivators in causing people to take action fast.
"Only 3 left at this price." "I have another guy coming in to look at this car at noon." "Yeah, the phone's been ringing off the hook for this ad." "Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I really want to sell."
"I'm a rebel, Dottie. A loner." That's actually the authority issue thing AND the scarcity thing.
