Dang! I hate those no shows - the bane of this business

A cancellation call would have been nice.  I confirmed at 5:30 then called from the gate in mission valley at 7. No answer. It was particularly annoying after fighting stadium traffic all the way there.

It'd still be disappointing with a cancellation call but at least you'd know you weren't thought of as disposable.

I guess business is really so good clients don't matter to some.

Oh well....I just needed to vent.

Agreed, Pat.  No shows are the worst.  My first experience with a TER provider was a no show by Jessica.  Hobbyists need to post shows with big capital letters in the discussion board so other guys can know it might be in the works with a provider, as that is the only way that guys can know it happened (since there is no field in a providers profile denoting ho no shows hse has done, and you can't post a no show review).   It is something that is totally unnecessary, and providers need to know that if they won't call and let a confirmed appointment know they need to cancel or call later and explain why they didn't show, they can't do it with impunity.

Well... it's sad to say, but that's SD for you!

Better luck next time!

If I share the name it really doesn't serve any purpose. I doubt anyone wouldn't see her based on my experience.

I don't really me to bash her either although naming her might make me feel like it's some sort of revenge or something. I don't wish to go there. Providers have bad days. Perhaps she got spooked by the Billy Graham thing going on nearby or found her faith and reformed her life (at my expense.) Hahahaha

Lastly, she has personal data on me since I had to pass her screening process. If I can't trust her to show up can I trust her with my personal data? Another fine reason this whole thing sucks.

Pat, you are totally wrong.  I know that I wouldn't see her if I knew she might no show, because I have been through that before, and I am sure other guys feel the same.  The only way no showing can become a bad option for a provider is if enough hobbyists complain loudly enough. This person has your personal info, but you have more than enough on her if she did something to you, which I would think is unlikely.  Sharing the name DOES serve a purpose...it helps your fellow hobbysts, reason we have this discussion board.  If you just say "It doesn't make a difference", remember that next time you get no showed.  It is like complaining about politics if you don't vote.

The sheer fact that the provider put you through an extensive screening process that has you concerned, is indeed why disclosure to your fellow hobbyists and the providers here is neeeded.

Most of the providers here are indeed honest, hard-working, and women of integrity, using the information gathered during the screening process solely to protect themselves against harm or LE sanctions.

For sometime I've been suspecting that some of our longtime regular providers may have become compromised, either by LE or a change in lifestyle, for the behaviour of some of the providers has become less colourful and some even appear to be more desperate.

Your report of a no show, and more details may help all of your brothers (and even the sisters) in arms.

I hope you reconsider for everyone's sake.

I agree with Pat 100%. This provider probably knows more about him than he likes. With this information she could make his life a living Hell if she so desires. Pat simply knows a provider who I doubt uses her real first name. Also, Pat probably only knows her cell#, and the address to a hotmail or similar email account. He really knows very little about her and could to little to retaliate, which would probably be a bad idea to begin with. Pat, I respect your wishes not to tell us.Sorry to hear that you got burned.

While my sympathy is with Pat and anyone else who gets "no showed", as I was the first time I used TER (and, thankfully, never since), a provider who would "no show" you and not contact you afterwards probably counts on your not publicising it.  There are too many good providers out there who do not "no show" without explanation to just let the ones who do continue without letting other hobbyists know what they might be in for.  There are always ways to pursue people, even with a fake name and cell #, but if the hobbyist is married or wants to keep a low profile, they aren't going to go to those lengths, and that is their choice. Having said that, there is a big difference between a provider who "no shows" and someone who would commit burglary or vandalism because the hobbyist said she "no showed" on the discussion board, and I would think it would be unlikely that there would be "retribution" for posting the outcome of what both parties consider a "business transaction", as long as it was not written maliciously.  People who do wrong things, even something as minor as no showing, count mostly on not being called out on it, and there are enough people in the world who get away with things because of fear as is.  Injustice will not proliferate only when people stand up for what is right, even in a place like TER.

Very pragmatic and well thought out, as well as, being a reasonable rebuttal of significant value. Sorry to learn of your frustration and regret your having to deal with the no-show.

I don't visit TER much these days, and haven't been on the SD boards in awhile, but it's nice to 'visit' and see what's new now and then. While I completely respect Pat's decision to not reveal her name, and think his reasons are smart ones, it is important for the hobbyists to know, and perhaps he's PM'd some of the gentlemen with that information.

Hopefully the lady will do the right thing and at least contact you with an explanation (though I can't imagine having one).

Some time back there was a Hobbyist who posted that Ana was a no show for their date, and I was happy to see that she posted her reasons why! Good for her - if it doesn't 'feel' right, and it didn't, then leave, which she did.

Pat, I certainly hope it wasn't any of the ladies on NE, as they should all have good reputations in regards to their work ethics, and I know the Webmaster takes pride in making sure the ladies have a good reputation for customer service. (though even still, any number of things could have happened).

I'm sorry to hear that. I love my clients and can't imagine such a thing..

xo,
