I am looking for sugestions for vegetarian cuisine. Somewhere from Del Mar\Solana Beach towards Oceanside or heading eastward to Escondido. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Funtime69...
Well if you want to go "Vegan" there is a new place in Chula Vista of all places, but it is devine. They serve totally "Live" food. It is called "Cilantro Live". They have the very best "live" food you could imagine.
Most of the "natural" restaurants in North County are small...like the smoothie shop on 101 in Leucadia that is run by the people from Swami's.
I think that Roxy's on 101 in Encinitas serves a variety of veggie stuff, but it is pretty casual.
The closest real veggie "restaurant" to North County that I can think of is Galoka in Bird Rock. It is Indian in style, but has a braoder variety than just that.
Unfortunately, the best vegetarian restaurant in town (Vegetarian Zone, near Balboa Park) closed its doors a couple of years ago. I was a regular customer and still miss it and the people who worked there very much.
The next best is Jyoti Bihanga, in Normal Heights, at the corner of Adams Avenue and Felton Street. Hours are strange, so call before you go (619-282-4116) to ensure they will be open.
The soups are exceptional, and my favorite entree is the Brahma Burrito. The only disappointing meal I've had there is brunch, which is mostly egg-based, and not that exciting.
