If you are thinking Canada...     Having been to Vancouver and Victoria Island, BC, I think I'd go to Montreal if it was possible. My take (from reading the reviews) is there are many more beautiful girls in Montreal and the prices are as good or better then on the west coast. Now, if only Tawny in Victoria had not retired... a 10 in every respect.

For my money: Singapore.  Ok, ok, I know that wasn't a choice but here's the deal:  I've been to AMS twice in the last 18 months and I'm just not impressed.  It's dirty, your dolalr doesn't go near as far against the Euro as it would in Canada and basically it's little more than a window shopper's paradise but that's about it.  It's filled with bachelor party weekenders from the UK.  They have basically open base, no receptical, "open air" urinals on the sidewalk in AMS.  Essentially it's a tube that guys walk into and either barf in or piss in and so what you end up walking thru is drunk Brit bodily fluids running down the sidewalks.  (yeeech)  For me, that detracts a bit from the experience, thanks.  Of the two, I like Vancouver.  Your dollar goes further there against the Canadian dollar than in AMS against the Euro.  On the other hand, some of the well maintained houses in AMS are, no doubt, pretty cool, but relatively expensive considering the exchange rate.   Of the two, I'd go with Vancouver for a number of reasons, but I mentioned Singapore.  Your dollar goes further against the Singaporean dollar.  Compared to AMS, there are similarly open areas in Singapore that would balance the sheet against AMS in terms of a red light district admitedly not with the same notariety or history you find in AMS. But, in the end, the cleanliness and openness in Singapore, I think, would offset the reverse in AMS so it would be MY choice.  So, If you must leave the US, I'd go with Canada or Singapore with Singapore being my first choice.  In your "down" time (heh heh heh) in Singapore, you can check out the abundant supply of electronics bargains and while there's no doubt the potential for a little anti-American sentiment in some quarters, by and large it's very friendly and safe.
