Concerned about Craigslist

This may have been going on for a long time, but I have recently stumbled across Craigslist and while I am sure there are quality providers on there, for the most part it strikes me as the equivalent of streetwalkers on Cajon Blvd.  There are even reports on CL of hobbyest being beaten up and robbed by pimps in addition to robs masquerading as providers.  Is there anyone else out there concerned that this activity may prompt further LE backlash against our hobby as it is practiced with the aid of the worldwide web?

I've never seen the List but by your account I'm more concerned about the prompt incarceration of these violent criminals.
If will not impact this well-read scholar's fantasy encounters with Goddesses of lengend.
Sometimes I miss the point entirely. Let me know?

The concern is an indiscriminant crackdown on all forms of hobbying involving the internet.  Local LE went after streetwalkers with vengence driving them off the streets.  Now, they appear to have re-emerged on CL and to a certain extent may be gang related.  LE may go after our good friends who we discuss on this board because they are an easier target than the CL posters who are here today and gone tomorrow.  I hope that I am wrong, but if that were to happen, it would not be the first time LE went after an easier target and claim victory.

I share your concerns. I've only used craigslist to purchase prescription drugs. I'm considering surgery via craigslist but will wait until LE slows down on its crusade against faux doctors.

CraigsList is an example of an unmoderated/self-moderated free exchange. Minimal policing by the owners, CL relies on the readership to moderate the postings.

So now you see the results of what is essentially unrestricted, irresponsible anonymous free speech. You have no way of validating the posts and you now wonder what is real and what is BS.

Using CraigsList is a case of buyer beware and YMMV.

As long as the activities written about on this board remain illegal, there will be a police presence.  As long as you know that and act accordingly, you have a better chance of avoiding a bad encounter.

There is at least one person who posts on here fairly regularly acting like one of the guys that is LE.  If you think any differently you are just being naive.

I have a couple that I've suspected, shall we start a list?

Criag's List has been around for a couple of years now.  There are some really good gals (Jai) who advertise there, some who are kinda flaky (Kali, Kierra)) and some ripoffs.  Like anything esle use your head (your BIG one not the little one) and common sense when contacting any of the ladies there
Many of the regular ladies are also reviewed on another site that was really set up as a CL review site.  If you wnat that address email me at [email protected]

Hello Members,

This is San Diego Exotics.

This post certainly brings to reality the risks one takes when they don't really know who they are encountering. Whether the providers are street walkers or the never ending free postings on CL, there is no way you can really know the intentions, traps or pitfalls you may encounter. Because of the internet’s anonymity, you also have no way to trace down the offenders and their partners if your encounters go bad.

While this seems like an opportunistic posting or sales pitch, as a locally run directory (unlike Eros, Cityvibe, or Adult Directory) we do personally meet and get to know almost all or our advertisers. We personally meet and get to know all of our independent providers, and we also meet and get to know the agency owners and their gals who work for them. Because of this, we feel you would have a far safer and more legitimate experience if you called on the advertisers from our site.

Also, look for ads with Verified Stickers. Advertisers who have “Verified” stickers on their ads are also more inclined to perform honest and legitimate escort services as they are more upfront in regards to their identity.

We know you have a good many choices as to where to shop, but when your safety is an issue, we believe you’ll have a better chance with us as we know our advertisers.

Good Luck, Be Safe.

My experience has been horrible quality.  That includes the ads for women who were not particularly pros either.  At least from my perspective, TOTAL waste of time.

Hope things change at some point.

No offese, but there are plenty on SDX that do NOT provide the services advertised.  I'm sure there a some that do, but also many who don't.  Luckly we have TER to share our experiences to try and find the ones that are honest providers.

No offense taken. While I am not a hobbyist, any telephone complaints I've ever fielded from unhappy hobbyists were because the provider wouldn't go the distance and break the law for them. In my book that's not a legitimate complaint because it's tough for anyone to live up to the expectations of others. Since we only do advertising here at Exotics, my point was that never once have the cops ever showed up at our door and asked for any information about an advertiser or her handlers because they beat up or ripped of a customer. You guys can do CL with all the problems it seems to have, but I just think you're "safer" with the gals on the directories, (not that they're any better in service) just that "you" are safer. Just my two cents guys.

I don't mean to be cynical or accusatory but you were just advertising your site over others. Have ever noticed or followed up on your site to see how many ripp offs and not the girl from SDX are reviewed here?

As far as being in SD so what its a big company isnt it? Afterall, theres World Exotics, OC, LA, etc..

Just trying to get answers so relax when you read this SDX.

SDX is saying that they have met the gal (which diminishes the chances of someone else other than the pictured lady showing up), not that they've taken her for a test drive and endorse her services.  Yoyu're absolutely right...that's what TER is for.

Hmm! I don't remember SD-Exotics stepping in to delist two of San Diego's finest rip-offs: Bridgette and Austin. My recollection is both had "verified" signs, which only verified that their photos were real.

Moreover, there were many postings on TER from hobbyists who had complained directly to you -- yet no action by SD-Exotics was ever taken.

One more point - Both Bridgette and Austin were listed on numerous occasions as "Girl of the Week" in SD-Exotics.

So how is it again that you're doing such a fine job for SD's hobbyists?

First of all, SD Exotics is under new management. I don’t know of the advertisers or events you speak of, because we took over in June of last summer. During our year here Bridgette and Austin have not advertised with us. Even if they wished to, our knowledge and experience precludes us from not listing girls or delisting girls just because they have gotten some bad reviews on the TER.

Considering how easy it is to create a new handle and make postings without really knowing the identity and agenda of the people posting these reviews it would be improper for us to pay serious attention to them.

1. We have seen agency girls who have tried to go independent get bad reviews posted by their former agency in an attempt to make it more difficult for the provider to make it on their own.
2. We have seen providers get labeled as rip offs because their current or ex boyfriends were trying to give them a hard time or get them to quit.
3. We have seen one big busted blonde viciously scald another because she was trying to minimize her or eliminate her as competition.

It’s also quite obvious that the reviews of hobbyists are skewed with their anticipations or level of expectations. Good reviews are given when providers break the law by going the extra mile for you, and they get penalized with a bad review when they don’t. This makes the reviews not credible nor fair, but then do you really care about that?

Providers shouldn’t be pressured to go the distance just to get good reviews. And frankly most gals don’t want the “good” reviews because they actually tip off SD vice (who use this as their #1 tool) as to which providers to target.

As far as advertising goes, bad providers and rip offs advertise on all directories, not just ours, and none of us use hobbyist reviews to determine who is eligible to advertise. It is not our job to police these girls.

While, this forum exists for you hobbyists to look out for one another, our job is to make sure our ads are as honest and as credible as possible, and to minimize false or misleading content. If the ads say verified, we mean it. If they don’t then it’s buyer beware. While ads are meant to be arousing and provocative, we’re not responsible for quality of service performed by our advertisers.

Our advertising system and your Review process is not perfect, but this dialogue will certainly help us all work together to make it as informative as possible. So maybe this is a good start.

Good Luck

Having been with and known several providers, I know for a fact, SDX only "gets to know" each provider "personally" through their CC #.  There is no verification of who is setting up an ad.  Give me a break!!
