come on guys, give 'm a break! what do u expect from le, to play by rules? their job is to nail us, specially when they 'know' but may not have airtight proof. let them do their job, how they see fit. you and i should either shit or get off the pot. grow up and stop howling at the moon.
i don't know about you, but every time i have had an encounter with le, and there have been many, i was guilty as hell and i was treated with maximum respect.
as they say, those who dance , must pay the fiddler.
let us grow up and not carp and bitch about cops, who are just doing their job. for those, who snivel that don't they have better things to do like busting robbers, murderers and so on, need to understand that the job of vice squad is to bust people like you and i, and not terrorists, robbers etc.
we may even find reasons to be proud of our le. they are paid to uphold the law of the land.
after all its "our" tax dollars at work! our anger, if any, should be with law making entities and not law enforcing agencies.
Thank you, officer
dude, I know U Dog and he's not LE.
maybe just a little too much Dragnet "just the facts Ma'am..."
but not LE
The internet stings that LE run are getting more and more elaborate. Wonder if U Dog will have the same opinion if he gets caught up in one?
I have been around a long time and have realized that cops are some of the providers best customers. The fact that you get arrested by the same guy that nailed your steady before you arrived is BULL. Selective enforcement is not you tax dollars at work. It is just the luck of the draw, that is the world we live in. Be safe and use common sense.
I have no problem with "cops doing their jobs", but even in law
enforcement circles - vice cops are known as the dregs of the legal community. When our police force shows little regard for the very laws they are paid to enforce, there is a serious flaw in the system. Their latest tactic, "Operation John Sting", is clearly designed to create a crime rather than prevent crime. Their success with this form of entrapment is largely due to fear of exposure on the part of the "criminal", nearly all of whom have families, jobs and reputations to protect.
For what it's worth, I do agree with udog. Yes, I would hate to get busted by a vice cop. But, if it happens, it's probably my own darn fault for having not been careful enough. Just my thought.
The question is - why this Vice?
Because.....
a) What other "criminals" pose less danger to the police? This "enforcement" activity is like shooting ducks in a barrel - lots of ducks who won't shoot back. They pick and choose, intentionally avoiding situations that might be risky - ie: attempting to arrest a REAL criminal.
b) What charge is less likely to be defended, due to publicity? Promotions in LE are based on time served and convictions - ANY convictions.
They are spending 100's of thousands of dollars, countless man hours setting up traps for otherwise law-abiding citizens. Who has heard of this kind of effort to set-up drug users, embezzlers, burglers, car thieves etc... Not to mention some of the more violent criminals. LE is not preventing crime, they are manufacturing it with websites, explicit reviews and unsolicited verbal offers to break the law. The argument that "this is what Vice does" is misplaced, LE works with a limited budget - allocating this level of resources for this purpose - while virtually ignoring the real problem areas - is an abuse of public trust and a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Does this argue fly? It didn't for the nazi(s). I'm not saying anyone is a nazi but the only way to prevent that sort of thing happening, is anyone is to nick it in the bud. Cops should prevent crime. All the powers police got during the war on drug didn't help
against 9/11.
Actually, I think that a significant portion of the financing for 9/11 came from identity fraud, and not as the Feds would like to think, from drug money.
If police want to be more productive with their enforcement dollars, they need look no further than going after identity thieves, the fasting growing crime that has real "victims". But then, that would be real work...
I don't disagree that they are doing their job, but mindless following to the point of arresting without evidence is ludicrous. They have some control over allocation of resources. They are also part of the executive branch and prosecutors in many localities don't go too hard against the "hobby".
They only way to change things is to bitch, moan and complain to all levels and the idiocy that makes this potentially illegal will change. Sitting back and saying, "well, they are only doing their job" changes not a damned thing and is as lemmings to the sea.
Just doing their job my ass. Allocate your resources to some criminals guys.
