If this true. he has the wheels coming off and headed for a cliff. This guy has destroyed this team, they are not prepared and no part of the game do they show any promise. Marty is laughing his ASS OFF.............................. All I can say is maybe next year and pray for the Padres.

Same ol Chargers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pickering with AJ and not wanting to cough up some cash, lost us key players and a great head coach.
So of course they had to start all over like they do every year.
My opinion, the wrong person left the organization.

So sadly it is the same ol' Chargers...and still whining for a new stadium.
Win some first.... geesh.

I'm gonna put this into perspective for all my TER brothers out there.

The first 2 games of the season were like calling a provider and having her gives us a weird attitude on the phone and getting shitty directions.  We didn't even get to the incall yet.

Before everyone jumps off the Coronado bridge wait until after seeing the provider before we write a review.  She looks like a 10, but don't know if her performance is a 1 yet.

AJ Smith is regarded as the hottest GM in football.  Nobody can draft like him.  LT, Gates, Rivers, etc. are all AJ's guys.  While I have never been a fan of Marty's and was not sad to see him go, I was less pleased to see the Chargers hire Norv Turner.  Indeed, the hiring of Norv Turner is an example of one of the things I dislike about the NFL; namely, the recycling of head coaches.  It would have been great to see the Chargers break from that mold.

As far as the stadium issue goes, we'll see who does the whining when it is not the same ol' Chargers.  If the Chargers do not have a deal by the end of this year, they'll be lined up at the Alamo Dome to buy season tickets for the new San Antonio Chargers.  And, the people of San Diego will be left holding their dicks watching another sports franchise pack up and leave because our gutless mayor and moronic city attorney blew the opportunity to turn the biggest parking lot west of the Mississippi that is used and generates revenues 20-30 dates per year into a mixed use development that would include a new stadium that would generate tax revenues for the city every day of the year.

It's all a matter of opinion. They fork out the funds for a few top players, like those you mentioned. That's a no brainer.
He may be 'regarded' as a hot GM. (Must be why we always have such a winning team, lol)
Try talking to the players. Look at who leaves due to him. Bet on Spanos not coughing up more doe then he reallllly has to either. None of which help.
The last thing the Chargers needed to do, yet another year was start over. That is their MO.
Like Marty or not. They had the formula for a winning team this year, if they could have held it together. But when people got into talks with A.J. off they went.
So, you can thank A.J. for Norv. Because Marty was staying another year to make it work, until A.J. got in the mix.

This is just my 2 cents and may be different then most, due to being privy to some inside info.

Luv Ya,
J'

This is a touchy subject for me.  When I left San Diego in 1982, the Chargers were the hottest ticket in town and I have remained a fan all these years.  Now that I am finally coming back home from New York, it looks like the Chargers may leave and after watching the Rockets and Clippers bolt, that will really suck.  I have been spoiled with lots of pro-sports in NYC.  Of course, I do not have access to the inside information that you do; my clients do not include NFL players.  So, I must defer to you on how the players feel about Mr. Smith, which I am sure you got straight from the players' ah mouths.  In any event, it would really suck if the Chargers were to leave just when I am finally getting back to SD.

I was a little girl living in SD at that time and just learning about the game.
In the 80's (I believe that was the Fouts, Coryel, Joiner years) everyone was glued to the TV on Sundays. Every weekend was a party! Yellow and blue was the color to wear.
There was no band wagon. You either loved the Chragers or didn't care about football.
It wouldbe nice to get that back again.

Coming from NYC, I feel for you. I'd love to see us have an NBA team again too.

I've never posted on this board before, but I figured I'd reply to your "inside info" 2 cents w/ some of my own...

For a more balanced eval. of the GM, ask a few of the guys who actually play (Coop, Vincent, Shawne, etc..) instead of a bitter wide rec..er..special teams "specialist" (who if he spent as much time w/ the juggs machine as he does chasing juggs, might actually get an offensive play or 2..), or a coedine smuggler who isn't even on the team...

Fact is, most of the guys haven't said more than 5 words to AJ since they got here. Actually, y'know, scratch that...most of the starters have spoekn to AJ some...when they were signing their extensions. We've locked up like 15 of the current starters in long term deals...including Dielman (one of the best young guards in the NFL) who turned down $10 mill more from Seattle to play here. You say AJ got in the mix & "off they went"? Yeah...off to the bank.

Listen, I agree, Norv's a retard, but honestly, Marty was not the answer. I respect the hell out of the guy for getting the team to win, but the guy couldn't win a playoff game to save his life.

I think you guys are quick to forget what it was like pre-AJ. 6 years ago we'd be on here talking about how awesome 1-1 is, since nobody in SD could imagine winning more than 6 games. AJ might be a prick, but he is damn good @ his job.

I couldn't agree with you more. Norv Turner doesn't know how to coach and why they hired him, knowbody will ever know. But one thing I do know is that we won't win with him. His record stands for itself.
