Hey folks:
I'm new to this site and I was just curious what the difference was between a provider from an agency and an independent one.
Any info would be helpful. Sorry if this topic has been covered.

I have tried being both with an agency and being an independent. I AM AN INDEPENDENT. I will never recommend that someone should go to an agency, whether they be a provider or otherwise. At an agency the providers are kept either in a hotel or apartment and are oncall for the entire stay of their trip to that area. If they work for one in their own area then they are oncall for the term of the hours that they set with them. They are told who to see, when, for how, long, what they sould do or what was requested, and what the fee is to collect. Alot of the times they are even charged a fee, money taken from their pay, if they go longer with a meeting than paid for. The agencies run the potential clients name and info. thru a database for a very thorough background check. They then keep all their info. (home adddress, credit card numbers, phone numbers, work info., tax info, car info., DMV info., bank account info. including where you bank and how much $ you have, criminal check info., and lots more), in their computers, and in paper office journals too, sometimes indefinitely.
An independent usually sets up a screening process so that she can ensure her safety, the same way as an agency does, but on a much vaguer scale. She usally just tries to find out if they are who they said they are and get a contact number for them. I don't know of any independents that keep much more than a phone #, name, and e-mail address of someone they've met. When they part ways, they do so with the contact info. too. They don't need it anymore so they dispose of it. An independent is also alot safer because they don't draw alot of attention to themselves as an agency does. They can also be alot more pleasant when seen because they are not on someone else's time restraints or being pressured by an agency boss. They have chosen to see that person, where, when, for how long, and why. I have also noticed that independents really enjoy wha they do, and do it for this reason. Alot of women go to agencies out of needing the money, and needing to make it quick, and therefore the experience can also reflect that they are only there to do work/a job. They try to do quantity appoinments. Independents do not ask for cancellation fees or charge your credit card by computer if you cancell. Agencies can even ask for deposits for an apt. up front too.
Please take this as advice from the experiences that I have had. I am now a much happier independent PS that is available by appointment in the San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles County areas. I must say very well done as well, epsecially from the provider's side. From my experience the independents, indies, are the only way to go, at least in this part of the country. I have never had a good experience from what turned out to be an agency or even from a provider that just left an agency. I have set appointments with what were advertised as independents, only to find that once they were at my house, first they were not the girl I was expecting and second the agreed to fee is just to show up. If you want anything more it will cost more and sometimes really more.
Also an agency will do or promise just about anything to get you to set an appointment. As they have a limited number of girls, and most fall into the outcall category, scheduling can be difficult. They will say that she is available at 7:00 just to set the appointment. Then as you get all excited as 7 is approaching you get the call, I am running a little late or I am lost, can we make it 8. I have sometimes gotten pushed back several hours.
This can happen with indies as well as some have agency habits of over booking as there are cancellations. The agency assumes that some guys will turn the girl away when the promised person does not show up, so for them it is good business to over book. However, sometimes us guys think what the hell I wanted it there is a breathing woman in front of me, what the hell I'll go for it. If too many go for it, it causes a scheduling problem.
If you stay with an independent and do a little homework, you can get the person that is actually in the picture. Isn't that why you called in the first place because she was the one you wanted to see. As Brooke stated, the indie usually has a better attitude, usually adheres to agreed to pricing and usually does not watch the clock as closely. the last thing you need is to be a few minutes from completion, just to hear hour is up gotta go or it is another hour.
From the LE standpoint, they will go after both. An indie is a small fish which is a misdemeanor at best, with the charge plead to being to a public nuisiance charge or something similar for the first offense. Yes she may get scared and try to get out of it by providing additional information about clients or tother providers, but most indies do not keep real detailed information and realize that they will never walk away completely free.
As for the agency. They want to keep a buffer between themselves and the providers as the charge for the service operators can fall into the pimping and pandering arena which I think is a felony. This arrest is much more attractive for publicity reasons and can lead to multiple arrests and usually numerous other charges. Very seldom do you every hear on the news that they arrested one girl, but the news channels do usually report of the arrest of a escorting or massage operation. As Brooke stated, the agency may keep much more information on you and your habits than an indie. If one of the services girls get caught, they are much more attractive for LE to try to turn and catch the bigger fish.
For me it is independents or nothing, at least in this town. You have a better chance of getting the person you actually want, the service is friendlier, your appointment is usually closer to being on time and there is not as much negotiating for services once you have your pants off and no longer thinking with the proper head. The agency and a few of the indies work under the principle that once you have made an appointment and want it, you will keep paying more until you get it.
In general, I have found the incall vs. outcall to be worth consideration as well, but will save that topic for others to discuss.

To make an appointment with one woman and have another show up sounds like the classic "bait and switch" routine. I don't know how agencies can stay in business using this type of tactic.
Now if you could, help me out on this one: I understand that agency woman can be prone to up-selling or charging more for additional services. Does that mean if you go with an independent you can be sure that the agreed upon donation is the full amount and there aren't any hidden charges?

You can never be sure of what will exactly happen during a session. Doing your homework on TER greatly reduces the number of variables you have to deal with. For the safety of all involved, we usually imply most of what would be black and white in other businesses. It is illegal to place a value on a specific act.
As some ads disclaim, it is for time spent together and anyhting else that may happen is between consenting adults. There is always a risk of price flucuations as this is many times a YMMV hobby. This is why some people will only see reviewed individuals that have a certain number of similar ratings. When going into uncharted waters it is always wise to bring along extra supplies.

FWIW, my only experiences have been with independents. I may be just lucky, but so far, I have yet to run into a bad experience (knock on wood). Not to say that every experience has been perfect, but I've been fortunate enough to avoid rip offs and poor service.
Unless I absolutely can't find what I want/need from an indie, I can't see any reason why I would try an agency. I don't want to imply that there aren't good girls from agencies, but for me, I think there are enough independents out there to satisfy my tastes.

This one seems to be different. Woman owned, tax paying. Any thoughts from Ladies or men? They seem to have many price ranges and alot of types of girls. I liked the "Our Philisophy" and the interview process stresses drug free, pretty, available non-flakes. The site is seeming to gaurantee satisfaction (100% money back gaurantee). I'd never have thought I'd consider a service until I ran into this site.
I travel across the US extensively and have found that agencies shouldn't be painted with a broad brush. I have had luck with agencies in Seattle, Indianapolis, Chicago, Tampa, and especially Houston. In fact, the best ladies I have found in Houston were from agencies at a rate that was lower than the average rate here in CA.
I'm not trying to pick on rates, but saying that if you work for an agency it does not always mean a bad thing outside of SD. I even had the chance to hook up with an underground agency in SD that was tremedous. Unfortunately, ownership changes made me lose track of them.
Outside of the underground agencies in SD, all of the well known ones are not worth your time.
I learned my way around very well 1st time working out with a very hard working agency in Phx. Incredibly efficient woman team that screened for the very best clients and women. The standard was very high. And we worked very hard and well. But it was a dream team and I have been privy to bad ones as well. Not sure if they are even in biz anymore it was awhile ago. But yes, they are definitely around.
If any agencies ever, REPEAT, ever keep dossiers containing info like home adddresses, credit card numbers, phone numbers, work info,tax info, car info, DMV info, bank account info, criminal check info of their clients(as mentioned by Brooke) then there must be some sinister intentions.
Methinks it points to either blackmail or bargaining tool to use in the event of an arrest and they need to cop a plea. Can anybody on this board tell me what they might wanna keep such extensive info? Scares the demons out of me. I've learnt a big lesson from Brooke - Will never use a credit card for this hobby - indie or agency.
I am not sure that too many agencies and indies keep real extensive info, but a name and phone number is all it can take to get the paper trail back to you started. I would never use a credit card in this hobby, except at the ATM. It just adds another layer to the trail and possible questions if the wrong family member or office worker gets the bill before you. Also how hard are you going to fight erroneous charges on the bill.
