A few years ago the Board would go into the second page every day with posts---a lot of participation from Gals Like Ginger, Princess, Myra, and even Anna on occasion.
It is not my Board and I am not a shill for TER but I do enjoy posting and wish we could get more of the guys and gals to participate.
I know Jocelyn Gotti had mentioned a Meet & Greet on the M&G Board some time ago----maybe that would help get this Board active again!
I was shocked to see today that Anna has as many Reviews as this Board has Threads over the last 4 days-------anyone have any suggestions or thoughts to get it active!
Then Again I am not Shocked That Anna has 4 New Reviews as She is "What Providing Is All About"!!
Once upon a time, this board was more active than it is now. However, it's still more active then some of the other boards here on TER. I've been looking at the Toronto board for several months now, as I may be taking a trip there in the future, and that board can go days without a new post, let alone a new thread. Also, while the San Diego board isn't as active as it once was, or as active as many other boards, we do seem to be free of a lot of the trauma and drama that goes on at other boards, which is also a plus.
There is no drama here--Jai and I are Good Friends!!!
At least two years. It's nothing new.
TER has even asked how to improve the board. It is what it is. I know some of the constant catty comments keep some girls from posting.
Some of the guys can be hard on them.
But constant posting by the same poeple, and bringing up the same girls/topics, might as well be shilling. It comes across that way even to me, even when it's about me.
When people have something important/interesting to say, one can only assume they will post it. More interesting posts would be great. But you just can't make people participate. I doubt SD is the only city with this issue.
Being that there is such a turn over of girls and clients and only a small number of of those that have "been around". I don't foresee the board changing much. A meet and greet has mothing to do with the board. It just makes relations among those that go to that sort of thing. I think SD tends to lean toward more discretion.
Not to mention the politics of there being a local board that seems to have less moderating.
When it appeared a bias seem to develop.
Just my 2 cents..
Jai
A few years back when I re-entered the hobby,I dropped by here. I stated that I had been checking out Craig's and i was immediately scolded for not calling the TER girls. What the heck? Not exactly a warm welcome.
When I first started hobbying, I was on TER 3 or 4 times a day. Either on this board or searching for my next romp. Ok, it was a few years after I started hobbying. Yep, I have seen Anna. There was Chrissy of P.B., Candra of Point Loma and so many more. Those were good times.
Times are still good, but it appears as though some are too loyal to certain providers and that is all they discuss. I still recall a thread in regard to a provider in the south bay who was doing bb and that had guys on both sides of that fence. Some opposed it for obvious reasons and many defended her by saying that it is her life and her choice and any guy seeing her has the choice to take chances. Many discussions got very heated. Many people booted off the site, moderators changed, etc. It was dirty, but active.
have you guys not had a party for members to meet? I know another site has done that. Also, don't knock other sites. A goob hobbyist uses all resources. Try to work in unison. Oh, and not every guy with a question about a provider is a cop. I recall the paranoia was just terrible around 2000. A person could not ask for a providers email or phone # without being accused of being a cop.
Just my .02 cents. Oh, I have changed my handle since I first started. That explains the few reviews on this handle.
that's where all the action has been for the past 2 years. People found a place to gripe about TER and everything else. They made their own niche and voila, now the owner has made it a paysite with the expectation of bringing in $200k/yr. Since it's no longer free, perhaps people will start to migrate back to TER?
I have been lamenting the lack of involvement on this board for years, but you can't force a horse to drink. I tried a couple of years ago to bring up topics, but the response was limited and uninspired.
It's true that we don't have a lot of drama here (God knows we don't need another politics board...there was a guy from SD who actually was the cause of them making a separate politics board - SD Stud). However, some drama now and then isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. It makes things more interesting.
I think the key is that when the board was more active, we used to have a moderator on here who was a local hobbyist (Sedagive), and he not only encouraged discussion, but he moderated a bit so the ladies felt comfortable posting something besides just their ads on here. Hell, there used to be quite a few regular SD ladies on here...Jenni, Sedona, Ginger, Elise, Lily June, Kylie SD, Mara, Amber Grey, and even some semi regular out of towners, like Carlee in AZ, Dana Victoria (may she rest in peace), and Baylee. Jai actually only started posting on 4/03, about a month before I started. The problem, though, is that not only is moderating an unpaid and time consuming thing, there are few that are trusted enough to qualify for this, so we basically have screened posts on many boards, but no active moderation.
The other big reason, as someone said below, is that there are other choices now, so the personality pool has thinned out a lot. Back in 2003-04, there weren't too many other places to go in town.
It's too bad that Sd doesn't have a more active board, but without local and involved moderation and involvement, I can't see it ever going back to the way it was.
especially about the the same people talking about the same ladies (something I myself am guilty of). I agree, I don't think it will ever be as active as it once was.
I never understood the mind set that you could only post on this board or the other local board but not both.
Yes, in the recent past, the other board has become the place to find out about local talent and where the most traffic has gone to. I did meet a couple of ladies that were popular there. However, they were also well reviewed here as well.
I decided not to pay for the other board, even though I pay more here, because I don't just hobby in SD. I also find that the reviews are more relevant here than the other board. If I only saw women in SD I might have joined but I don't.
Not to say that you can't find out if a lady is worth seeing from the other board but you can't just blindly look at scores and figure that out over there. The scores do not have the same meaning as they do here.
I wish the other local board good luck but if you can't even see advertisements from the ladies I wonder how long ladies will want to stay there if they have to limit their audience. I know they mean well over there so I hope it works out. I know TER will always do well because of their attitude and broad scope. Other national boards don't do as well as TER.
You are right, Mike. This is the more "national" board with the other one more localized. That is not to say that both cannot co-exist together. I have seen providers first noted on other boards, but those ladies also wanted to have their reviews posted here so it would reach a larger and somewhat better paying viewers.
I think many of the points made by both MrSD and Jai are very well placed. A local moderator would be much welcomed and would bring back the local focus here.
The 'other site' lets nonpaid members look at the advertisements now. Frankly, I prefer TER to that place. The members there seem to get very involved in the lives of the women and it gets very emotional. They're also less discreet than I would prefer. However, each site has its place and its audience. There's enough room for both, something which I wish all people would remember.
You raise some interesting points. Let me give my view. I frequently check-in to this board to see what’s up but rarely post. I am much more active on the “other” San Diego board. I think TER is really great with the Erotic Highway/Love Goddess column. It alone is worth the price of admission. I also think that the TER review collection is much more extensive and informative. But the other board is much more fun and has much more provider participation. I am a paying member to both. Almost all the girls I see have an active presence on the other board. But their reference reviews are almost always here. In a sense the TER board seems to cater to the more expensive, established girls ($$$$ range) and their clientele. I have laughed to myself that it almost seems like a Jai Loren fan club (of which I am a respectful member). The other board has great $$$ girls and is more free wheeling. I am surprised about how many high class girls seemingly choose to avoid a presence on that other board. Of course, CL is the domain of the $$ girls who come and go. It will be interesting to see how the other board fares now that it has gone commercial. If the girls continue to get good referrals off that board with a reduced male membership it will probably continue to prosper. Otherwise, perhaps some of the subscribers, both male and female will come over here once they both require subscription. Capitalism is a wonderful thing.
I have some suggestions that IMHO may help invite more people to the discussion board, and a wider variety of topics being discussed.
1) When a new person joins TER in San Diego, whether it is a provider or hobbyist, welcome them to the board with enthusiasm! Tell them how much you can't wait to hear what they have to say and for their contribution to the discussion.
2) As much as you may adore your favorite providers and want to give them all the kudos possible, when every post is either an ad from a provider or a hobbyist recommending the same provider(s) over and over again, it creates a clickish feeling ... a feeling that there is an inside group here and that it is impossible to ever live up to these fantastic providers. There are many of us who would love the opportunity to get to know and even learn from these providers, but the environment that is created here is closed, not open.
3) If you are one of those fantastic providers, like Jai for example, IMHO you are sitting on an opportunity of real power to make a difference in the industry here in San Diego. You could be a leader in bringing about positive changes for both providers and hobbyists through your posts on this board. People are watching what you post. Make your posts mean something. Start discussions about things that will create change for the better and open the community to more than just the few of you that dominate the board.
4) When someone new posts, respond favorably! Avoid criticizing what they have said and offer words of encouragement instead. Keep the discussion they began going rather than shutting them down.
5) Actually request individuals to participate in a particular discussion you start. Email the person and tell them that you feel that their opinion would be really valuable in furthering the discussion you started.
These are suggestions that I thought of as someone who has gotten knocked around quite a bit as a new person in this industry in San Diego and they are all offered IMHO. Thanks for taking the time to read them.
