I think mine are kinda girly things. Baking, decorating, and I always have to watch the old school claymation shorts. I love the Miser Brothers....hehehehe
Not to say a nice bottle of merlot by the fireplace being naughty isn't awesome!
Happy Holidays!

...I guess my favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree.
But I'm right there with you, Arden, on the old classic shows! In fact, I'm DVRing the original Rudolph as I'm typing this. I don't know why they air them so early in the Christmas season, but I'll be saving it until closer to Christmas to watch. I'll probably record The Little Drummer Boy and Frosty as well.

ps~yup, Heat Miser rocks! (I believe that's called The Year Without a Santa Claus--I'll look to record that one too.)
XMAS.... Both my German and Mexican traditions have one special event that takes place....
GERMANY-----on the eve of Dec. 6th children place a shoe or boot by the fireplace. During the night, St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children, hops from house to house carrying a book of sins in which all of the misdeeds of the children are written. If they have been good, he fills the shoe or boot with delicious holiday edibles. If they have not been good, their shoe is filled with twigs.
In Mexico, the kids put their shoe by the door, and the 3 kings brings them their gifts.... Its more so about las posadas....And celebration of the Birth of Jesus.
There is nothing that beats the cooking, baking, and decorating. I especially like decorating the Christmas tree, which reminds me I need to pull my Christmas decorations out of storage and start shopping for a tree. Happy Holidays to Everyone!
I do miss watching all of those classic holiday shows, like Frosty, Rudolph, and Charlie Brown. It does feel like Christmas when I see it on the TV.
Choosing the tree at the local tree lot, decorating the monstrosity with everything under the sun, turning off all the lights and then...looking for a motherfucking replacement bulb so that the tree will be awesome and sparkly.
Christmas Eve is all about sneaking down to the tree, eating up all the cookies and lukewarm milk, then hitting the garage for the hidden presents to lay around the tree. This year, I'm placing a glass of vanilla Silk (soy milk) in a bowl of ice, cuz Old St. Nick is lactose-intolerant.
Sitting back on the couch on Christmas morning, the Macy's parade on the tube, wrapping paper flying through the air, and then silence...the amazement on my boy's face making up for the stresses of the holidays.
My favorite tradition would also be decorating the tree, with Christmas music playing in the background. I am also a big fan of the old Christmas movies from years past, some things never go out of style and are simply timeless.
BTW If you get tired of recording Matt, I have the entire box series you can borrow!

Heat Miser and his brother definitely rock. LOL
Happy Holidays everyone!
Thanks, Cierra, you are a sweetheart! I may just take you up on that. There are always a few classics that elude me each year.

ps--Speaking of Christmas music, I want to pick up the new CD by Jackie Evancho...she's that little 10 year old who was on America's Got Talent this summer. It's a Christmas album called "O' Holy Night", and it debuted on Billboard at #2 this week--highest spot ever for an artist her age. If you've not heard her, Jackie sings like an angel, truly. Last night I spotted her on TV singing "Silent Night" with Katherine Jenkins, at the tree lighting ceremony in Rockefeller Center. It was heavenly...
As a family, we all used to go caroling, visiting shut-ins and rest homes, then we would go over to my grandmother's and have a pretty big get together...she has passed, and it's a tradition that cannot really be lived too well any more...but, it was the one thing that always made me personally feel like it was Christmas...it has never really felt the same, since her passing...
Outside of that...buying an expensive gift, but small ones (like an iPod Touch) putting it in a HUGE box, filling the box up with a ton of stuffing...then, watching the face of the person, as they open a huge box, not knowing what it is...wading through a ton of stuffing...to get down to a tiny gift, that comes with a lot of punch... haha! Yes, I'm a little bit of a jokester when it comes to those kinds of things, and anyone who knows me well enough knows that about me...but it still ALWAYS generates a laugh. What better tradition that to laugh during the holidays?
TGIF! And I hope everyone's stays safe during the holidays, plus filled with tons of laughs...
