So I finally find myself with the DISPOSIBLE income to see some of my ATF PSs in the flesh.  The problem, in my opinion, is that the current average price point for an hour (my PREFERRED length of time for an appt.) now runs between $1.2-1.5K.  Now, I can swing that, but I can't help feeling it's just a bit EXHORBITANT.  For God's sake, neurosurgeons DON'T charge that much (although, after seeing Ben Carson on TV, maybe they should start earning LESS?) JK

Another possibility I've come up with is to see a PS for a 1/2 hr.  After all, at least you get to fulfill the fantasy at HALF the rate.  My concern is that 1/2 an hr can go by so QUICKLY!  When you add in the initial chit-chat, a shower, and getting comfortable, there goes 10-15 min at least, leaving you with only 15-20 minutes, which is fine if ALL you want to do is get your rocks off, but at THIS level, I think we're all seeking something more.

My question then, specifically for those TER members who've done it - is 1/2 an hr with a PS worth it?  Is it SUFFICIENT to at least get a "SATISFACTORY" experience with a favorite PS?  I welcome all informed and positive comments.  Thanks in advance, gents!  

I just made that decision yesterday as a matter of fact- I was offered a 1/2 hour or hour option from a particular porn star, and, after thinking about it a lot, I decided to go for the hour. I HATE  1/2 hour sessions for exactly the reasons you mentioned, but the only think about booking a 1/2 session that could be advantages is if you've read previous reviews on the woman and reviewers mention that she's NOT a clock watcher and HOPE that the two of you are really hitting it off and SHE makes the session go longer, OR maybe in booking the 1/2 the first time with that particular porn star, that maybe again you'll hit it off and she'll offer you a reduced rate for the next time. Just my two cents....

for your TWO cents!  You hit on SEVERAL key points:

1. Do you risk the possibility of 1/2 hr becoming a full HOUR if both of you are "hitting it off?"

The thing is, the TYPE of PS I'm talking about, those who's average rate is bet. $1.2-1.5K/hr, are USUALLY very POPULAR, and are booked to within an INCH of their life.  I doubt, regardless of how well a session goes, such a provider would be willing to just let "time fly" and EXTEND you add'l time.  Most likely, they have ANOTHER session booked right AFTER yours, and they wouldn't want to risk having THAT client become UNHAPPY because he had to WAIT on account of you two "hitting it off."

2. REGARDLESS of how POSITIVE a PS's, heck ANY pros, reviews are, ANY experienced hobbyist knows he has to factor in the "YMMV" factor.  I'll give you an REAL life example:  I recently saw a HIGHLY reviewed pro (my THIRD time w/her, btw) even though her last review was LESS than POSITIVE because the client was "turned off" by the pro's "cigarette breath."  As for myself, I noticed it too, especially after reading his review, but her LEVEL of service, IMO, was so ABOVE and BEYOND that I was willing to OVERLOOK that.  Also, I was NOT paying PS prices, so the HURT wouldn't have been as bad.  I liken it to buying a DIAMOND ring: the MORE expensive the ring, the MORE you expect (and DEMAND) for it to be FLAWLESS.

I'm not saying that the porn star is going to be SO into you that she forgets about the time, I'm just saying that a 1/2 session CAN turn into a 45 minute session if everything is going well. It's happened to me a few times, that's all I'm saying.... YMMV....

If you're having a bad session, and just not "clicking", then a 1/2 hour can seem too long a time to spend with someone.  

If you're having a great session, then a 1/2 hour can seem too little.

I've had both.  

When I had more money, I generally did 2 hour dates (even with non-porn stars) so I had time to talk with them, and relax, and enjoy myself many times during the 2 hours.  Hell, I remember going up to Boston where there was a great agency that was doing 4 hour specials for $700 which was well within my budget at the time.

As others have said, sometimes the escort will give extra time if she is enjoying herself.  Sometimes that's an extra 15 minutes, sometimes it's a half-hour, and sometimes it's longer.  I remember an escort in Australia that I booked for an hour stayed the night and refused any additional payment.

The thing is, I treat all of these "sessions" as "dates".  And just like any date, sometimes you hit it off, and both want more together time, and sometimes you don't.  Sometimes you hit on a woman for whom this is truly a business and she's got a timer on her phone to tell her when your hour is up.  Every "session" is different and as far as I'm concerned, trying to find any hard and fast rule can be self-defeating.  If you go into a half-hour session knowing you only have those 15-20 minutes of playtime, you can be rushed and then neither of you will truly enjoy the session.  On the other hand, if you're just there to meet the star, get your rocks off, and get an "introduction" that can extend to longer time in the future, it can be worth it if you "click" with her in that 15-20 minute period.

But, for me, personally, I think 1-hour sessions are the minimum I'd do with a porn star.  I want that time to chat with her, get to know her outside of the film frame, and treat her like a person rather than a piece of meat that I'm there to use for a few minutes and then leave.  I think I have better times with them treating them like a real person rather than a toy to use and discard

I agree with you, Artemus.  A session with a ps CAN become extended.  Any long time member of TER has certainly read stories about such sessions here, as well as in the "reviews" section.  I guess what cspatz is hinting at (if a bit more cynically than myself) is that the possibility of that happening with a ps, ESPECIALLY a high end one, is HIGHLY unlikely.  It's akin to WINNING the lottery for MOST people: you play and if you win, GREAT, and if not, you REALLY didn't expect to anyway.

I have to DISAGREE with you about thinking of these sessions as "dates" though.  That's something that I myself have trouble overcoming.  I'll be with a perfectly good pro, having a grand ole' time, when suddenly I'm reminded: time's up.  So, I'm learning to become more EFFICIENT (quicker shower, less chit chat, more let's cut to the chase) in order to achieve more SATISFACTORY outcomes.

That's the one MAJOR advantage of having at least ONE non-PS ATF on your list - it's someone you can see on a REGULAR basis without having to worry about "busting the bank," and you can develop a GENUINE relationship with that person.  Not necessarily "boyfriend/girlfriend," although that's possible (it happened to me!), but more of a "pro" and "trusted, preferred" client.  As much as a hobbyist is on the lookout for a good ALL-AROUND pro (looks AND personality), I think pros also appreciate clients whose company they can TRULY enjoy, rather than having to "work."

As for PSs, for me, it's gotta be ALMOST a SURE thing.  I'll do my research, read the reviews here, and check out as many OTHER sources as possible before I commit to a session.  Doing so helped me save over 2K when I skipped seeing 2 of my ATF PSs after I read the comments/reviews on TER and other sources.

I didn't say that I think of them as "dates", I said I TREAT them like "dates".  There's a difference.  That is, I go into the "session" the same as I would a date - I dress cleanly, I shower beforehand (if I can, or I shower there but do that rarely since I try to arrive freshly showered), I use deodorant, cologne (unless the escort says she's sensitive to those smells), I use mouthwash, etc. I've even been known to bring flowers, candy, or some other small token of appreciation to porn stars.  On some occasions, I've prefaced the "intimate" portion of the date with dinner, lunch or some other "social" interaction.  

In other words, I treat them with respect and consideration, and put my best foot forward.  I go into the "date" with the same preparation I would for a "normal" romantic date. The only exception to this is if I meet someone at a convention or club and don't have the opportunity to "prepare".  Trust me guys, if you've never done this, you should.  The escort (especially the porn stars) will appreciate the effort (assuming she's not out just for money) and doing so will get THEIR best effort back in return.  And by arriving fully clean, showered and smelling decently, when she gives me that initial hug/kiss, she won't be turned off by the smell of sweat or whatever, and I have an extra 15-20 minutes of time WITH her instead of alone in the shower.

You simply don't start the 1/2 hr until you hand over the $$. You can chit chat before that, but once the moolah is handed over, that when the 1/2 should start. bad luck if the have appointments after you, which that most likely won't.

generally I don't like 1/2 hours seems too rush-  but you make a good point- at 1200 to 1500 for 1 hour it might be out of your price range-  so if you really have something for the particular star and you can only afford the 1/2 hour go for it

However, the other problem is it is fairly common practice that the 1/2 hour rate is not 1/2 of the price-  for instance I just saw one ad for a ponrstar where the hour rate was 1,200 but the 1/2 hour rate was 800-  so you are getting a much worse deal for the 1/2 hour-  I understand the provider's position- it's not as economical for them to do the 1/2 hour so they make the 1/2 hour less attractive

in short, I would probably avoid 1/2 hour unless it was an ATF and only way I could afford

Thanks for the response, JoeMC.  It NOT a question of AFFORDABILITY, it a matter of VALUE.  I can still remember a time not too long ago when the avg. PS session was $800.  I know about inflation, but how did we jump from $800 to 1.2-1.5K in a couple of years?  WHOSE paying these prices - Arab sheiks?  I didn't realize there were enough of those S.O.B.s to support a WHOLE industry?!

I agree on the value question-  I used to be more interested in seeing pornstars, but hard to justify the price when there are a lot of really good non-pornstar providers in the 400-600 price range- some premium is understandable but not double or triple

One suggestion for a half hour appointment: Cardio.

Here is what I mean.  Try it in your private life, and you will see.

Right before arriving, walk around the block, the hotel, whatever, briskly for 20 minutes...not so much you get gross sweaty, but to warm all your innards up, muscles, etc.  You will find you will cum MUCH faster....and you will find you cum much more....in my case, my jizz literally shoots hard enough to sploosh against the wall or the headboard if the girl cum dodges.   Try it.  You will see it works, and helps make that half hour the functional equivalent of an hour....

Only you can answer that question. Sounds like you have your doubts. Not sure if your question pertains specifically to porn stars or to HHR sessions in general. If the latter, book a HHR with a couple regular girls and see how it goes.

In terms of going over time there are lots of factors. First, most porn stars have bookers and those bookers keep them on schedule. And a touring girl in a hotel room will probably run a tight ship. On the other hand, outcalls in LA are probably more lax as this is their home base and they are less likely to have another appointment after you.

I disagree that the hour starts when the money changes hand. You need to manage the clock for your own protection and assume it starts when she arrives. Offer a drink and make just enough small talk to get comfortable then get down to business. they will appreciate that. I've had some great sessions that have gone way over. Generally it either because we were still going at when the time was up or because they were enjoy massage/conversation/drink. Which brings us full circle to your question. Because if what you want is multiple rounds of marathon sex, pay up for the longer session. I am convinced one of the reasons i get so much extra time is that i do not initiate another round once the time is up. Final observations, HHR appointments send a signal of a quickie and right off the bat i think that creates a different mindset. It's been pretty easy to stretch a HHR into 45 min in my experience, but once that HR mark approaches its ply natural for them to feel cheated. On the other hand, multi hours and overnights are pretty rare so on an hour appointment there is less of that possible resentment factor

I was just thinking about the 1/2 hr. in regards to PS as a way to "scratch that itch."  It's NOT a matter of money.  I can afford the hour.  The question is: how much would it hurt if it DON'T pan out?  With a half, saw $5-6, I can stomach "losing" that and learning from a BAD experience.  But $1.2-$1.5?
