The following article appeared in the April 8 edition of the "Cal OSHA Reporter."  Sorry I can't link to it, but there is no on-line edition.  Looks like the adult film producers are getting hassled by the state of California.  It's nothing to sneeze at, some of the fines can be rather hefty, particularly if they are classified as repeat and willful.  Here is the article:

Hustler Charged with BBP Violations

Following a complaint to Cal-OSHA from AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), longtime adult film producer Larry Flynt Productions had been cited for three alleged serious violations of Cal-OSHA's bloodborne pathogens and Injury and Illness Prevention Program standards.  LFP Video Group, doing business as Hustler Video, faces proposed penalties of $14,175.

AHF has filed complaints with the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) against 16 production companies for "potentially life threatening behavior" because the companies failed to require performers to use condoms to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.

The advocacy group targeted Flynt and Vivid Entertainment because they are "outspoken opponents of condom use in their film productions," AHF says.

Hustler Video was cited for two alleged violations of California's bloodborne pathogens standard, General Industry Safety Orders 5193.  The employer, according to DOSH failed to establish, implement and maintain a written exposure control plan for workers who had "reasonably anticipated contact" with potentially infectious materials, Cal-OSHA says.

Hustler Video failed to use engineering and work practice controls, failed to make available hepatitis B vaccine to employees, did not train employees on exposure control, and failed to ensure the use of "appropriate personal protective equipment" - to wit, condoms.

The adult video producer, based in Canoga Park, also was cited for an alleged serious violation of GISO 3203 for failing to have an Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

LFP Video is appealing the citations.
