While I agree with my friend above that approaching girls on the convention floor and asking "do you escort," is probably not the way to go, I am one who tends to go with the flow and not plan ahead so much. I, too, have a number of connections in the industry (not bragging, DikPman, just fact), have gone to AVN twice, the second time actually had a booth there to promote my business (as well as a well-known star's website) and found that working/arranging things with adult entertainers, particularly in that frenzied environment, could very well be where the phrase "herding cats" originated.
That said, I would stick to the basics, watch for whomever posts here right before the show and keep your options open. There are literally hundreds of women there and they’re not all booked 24/7. Myself, I prefer going with the independent girls, knowing that they get all of the donation and I’ve found their rates to be more competitive.
I will note that while blatantly approaching girls with inquiries, there can be less obvious ways to do it. A friend of mine who was helping at our booth took major shining to a rising young starlet one day. When it was appropriate, I sidled over to her and her “manager,” made some inquiries and returned with the info that she was available for 900/hour. This was also entertaining since this was my friend’s first contact with all of that and he was flabbergasted, “What, these girls do that too?!?” Dude, these chicks have sex for a living, there’s nothing magic about the camera!
Finally, I definitely agree with DikPman, your attitude can make a huge difference, as in most of life. And you do not have to be good looking, TRUST me on that one but making people laugh seems to always help. Just be discreet and remember to do what my mother always told me, “treat all women like they’re ladies, even if they’re not!” If she had any idea how well that was going to work later in a strip club or on the AVN convention floor, she mightta kept her yap shut
