It seems like the quality of PS has gone dramatically down hill over the last 5 years. Back in the early 2010s to 2016s, you had Samantha Saint, Romi Rain, Summer Brielle, Jessa Rhodes, Alana Rae, among many others who were bona fide PS superstars and available, and just as important, in their prime. Now you have some ladies who used to be stars but now are well past their prime (Jesse Jane for instance of NB) . Even the active stars of today in their prime, available or not, just don't hold a candle to the ladies who were available less than 10 years ago.
Miss that golden era when there were so many exciting stars on the wish list. Now I can hardly find any that entice me, save a few like R. Steele (just seems too pricey unfortunately)Mostly true, and probably because the business model has changed. There are ways to make money with OnlyFans and all the others that weren't on the radar five years ago. I think the hotties are still out there, we're just not seeing them through the traditional channels.
I agree it was better for us, all around, before. The content quality is much better when produced by a major studio. I've never been impressed with any self-produced content.
Not much we can do. The business will continue to evolve, and I'm sure there will be some way to connect talent to the hobbyists willing to shell out the big bucks for in person stuff.
It's a shame if this is true. There are some beautiful women making porn today but if they're not available to us normal clods that's a whole lot of fantasies that will go unfulfilled.
I had the good fortune to meet Natalia Starr some years ago but the rather infamous site she booked through has had its share of problems. I recall that even before their legal troubles it was almost impossible to book top talent, despite all the pictures on their site. There was always an excuse--this one is traveling, that one is on hiatus, this one is not answering her phone, yada yada. I stopped using the service after the 3rd or 4th time that they shoveled me off to some 3rd tier porn actress who made two mediocre videos in her entire career.

You're a real pisser, mrfisher.
about porn stars from the 90's. Some of the most gorgeous and glamorous ladies ever shown on film, IMO. But then the internet made everyone an porn star with 200 scene credits in their first yer.
Also, it seemed that porn stars did a lot more feature dancing on tours than I see now (pre COVID anyways).
Agreed 100%! Sad thing is outside a select few, atleast 2015 & on IMO.... Porn star is very loosely thrown around.
Again outside of a select few nobody can touch the ladies of the 90's-early 2000's. But after having seen/sessioned with some of these untouchable gorgeous ladies from that era, outside of your Tera Patrick's, Amber Lynn's, Tabitha Stevens, Nina Hartley's (even though she falls within 80's) etc.... Alot of them have fallen on hard times for various reasons.
If anything positive does comes from this new porn era is the girls are smarter with their $$ & plan ahead for the future so they dont fall prey to their predecessors. For every porn starlet that has found life outside the business, found a rich sugar daddy or become successful in their own way using their names as a vehicle as a successful provider etc... There are quite a few struggling from making bad choices & in all honesty to be fair that should be getting royalties from toys etc.
I think women in porn are generally a lot hotter now, on the average. I thought Ashlyn Gere, Dyanna Lauren, Jenteal, Chasey Lane and a handful of others were truly beautiful. But there was also a lot of "porn beautiful" either with the tons of makeup or the big hair or both. And there were an awful lot of filler girls who you wouldn't look at twice in the mall.
In the last 5 to 10 years there has been just a tidal wave of very pretty and sometimes beautiful girls. IMHO Kendra Sunderland or Eva Lovia or Natalia Starr would make a lot of 90s girls look ok at best. And the influx of Czech, Hungarian and Eastern European girls raised the bar significantly.
Having said all that it still looks like a hard life. Check out After Porn Ends on HBO or Hot Girls Wanted on Netflix. Sobering to say the least.
I’d say my top 20 favorites from the 80s-90s and the 2000s were better looking, and better performers, than my top 20 performers who have been active for the past 10 years or so. There were a lot less performers from the 80S and 90s and today’s “talent” pool is just too diluted. Of today’s starlets I’d have to say Tina Kay is my favorite. Even though she completely rocks I still prefer the gals from the past like Julia Ann, Jayden Jaymes, Janet Mason, Alanah Rae, Nina Hartley and Austin Kincaid. Going even further back in the time machine Honey Wilder, Alicia Monet, Ashlyn Gere, Tami Monroe, Nina Hartley (again), Melanie Monroe, Brit Morgan and Samantha Strong really did it for me. There are a lot of very good looking performers these days but I’ve found it difficult to find more than five or ten who have that dynamite package of looks and performance compared to my favorites from earlier times. I like busty gals who have refined the art of dirty talking, oral/finishing oral, decent acting and Lots of tan lines. The only thing I don’t miss about that era are the cheesy mustaches and pathetic music. I like the MILF trend that started in the 2000s but sadly a lot of those gals are fading away without too many replacements of their caliber.
IMO the women on the scene, both professional and amateur, are far hotter and more plentiful than in the past, on average. Not to mention a greater variety. The problem is what one of the other users posted, the business model has changed. Now there are so many different ways to make revenue and be your own boss that the old days of "shoot porn to get exposure and demand higher rates when you dance and provide" are gone. Girls that never would have touched the scene are entering now because it's more accepted and there's way to do just what they want and never have to leave the comfort of their own home. You can say it's spoiled or what you want but it's just a fact and to some extent it spells and end to the hobby as we know it, particularly when it comes to porn stars. Some gems can still be unearthed if you dig; camgirls or alternative content providers. You have to get them before they blow up, just like pornstars though. A prime example is Gabbie Carter. She was hot as hell and came out of the gate doing total hack amateur sites and anal to start. She even had a profile on SexyJobs. If you got her then you probably could have gotten her to do anything and for relatively cheap. Now a little more than a year into it and she just posted on reddit that she's no longer doing boy/girl scenes. Arabelle Raphael recently announced she is doing well enough that she will not be providing and only shooting for herself. It's not unlike the music industry. Stars had to work and tour for years to establish themselves and make money. Now you can get your content out online and if it even goes marginally viral you can make a living off it. You can't blame them, why do anything else? It's the consumer who is as much to blame. If they didn't make the money through other methods they would return to providing and the few that still do wouldn't demand as much. This phenomenon will certainly adversely impact the strip club industry too and Covid may well have a long lasting impact on both. Really the only hope, IMO, is legalization.
Agree with you on the improved quality of the girls.
As for the business model, it may be better for the ladies in some ways (e.g. they may control their professional lives a bit more in the aggregate) but they're still getting hosed by the men who run shit. I recently came across a datum that a performer may have to give as much as 70% of their earnings to one of the big streaming platforms in order to get high exposure on the net.
Oh for sure. Business is business. There will always be someone who finds a way to monetize a product and take advantage of the labor market. There are just more ways, though, for performers to enter the adult world exactly as much and in the way they want to than ever. You no longer have to live in a specific area or run in specific circles or get recruited. Information is more readily available, you can open your own shop, get on a cam or content platform, or still go the old ways. That being said most will still peter out after realizing that they are not making what they thought, giving a huge percentage to the house and/or becoming disillusioned or disenchanted. Plus where some would have provided because of the money, they now can do many other things and on more of their own terms and safer which means a smaller percentage will provide.
If you watched as much Youporn as I do, you would know the quality is actually incredible! These girls may not all be living in porn capitals like LA, but rather they are spread around the world! The advance in technologies makes them accessible with a few clicks! In the 90’s or even early 2000’s the pool of eligible candidates was barely a fraction of what it is today! Further, the new girls eat and exercise better and they have access to more inexpensive beauty enhancement techniques! The only thing is you can’t do is go to AVN or similar and see the best of the best in person! In my opinion, anyone who thinks differently is suffering from, “those were the good old days” syndrome.
I think the point was less about the quality of women in the industry overall but more about the true porn "stars" and in particular the ones that provide. I was personally not a fan of the fake tits/stripper aesthetic of a lot of earlier porn stars and enjoy the plethora of ladies and content out there now. But, leaving covid out of it, the expanded ways and flexibility of how one enters the market means their are more choices which IMO means fewer will choose the provider route. Perhaps it will mean a glut of performers and therefor more and better quality ladies will come around to providing. I don't think so, though. I do think that in the past, a larger percentage of those in porn were available, simply because the two were more hand in hand. Now there is so much more information and choice available that I don't think that's the case. I hope I'm wrong. I hope it actually does mean more see the provider route as a safe, viable and lucrative option. I'm still holding out for legalization.
Exactly. There may be more beautiful women posting shit, but the ones available, are lower quality because of many other avenues like OF and other channels. I am sure many are avail super URT...but don't know how to access the super UTR ladies
The thing that I find annoying is that it seems in about 80 percent of the scenes that come out today, incest or sex within a family is the theme. I don't know why, but I find that kinda creepy. To me, it's a turnoff. Obviously, it's not real -- but still. What's wrong with fucking your neighbor or your teacher or friend or an old flame? Or even a stranger? I don't necessarily want to see some dude having sex with his stepsister or his stepmom (again, I realize it's not real, but it still wigs me out). There are even in which the "fantasy" is a guy fucking his real mom or real sister or real aunt or a girl fucking her uncle. ... Gross. ... I think that may have even helped lead to Rayveness' departure from the business. I recall seeing a tweet from her lamenting the fact that they always want to her "have sex with her stepson."
100% agree. It slid from "step mom, step dad, step sis" (bad enough) to "mom, dad and sister."
I agree. Lose the incest theme. Maybe try to come up with something more creative.
