I've talked to a couple of porn stars about this and there's seems to be a big split in the porn industry about escorting.

You have one camp that thinks there's virtually no difference between the two practices and likes the idea of making great money spending time with their fans that appreciate them more and are willing to pay rates considerably higher than porn producers.

Then you have the other camp that sees acting in XXX films as a form of artistic expression and escorting as a demeaning act of exploitation and are repulsed by the idea private sessions with fans.

Personally I think the line between porn stars and escorts has been getting seriously blurred with the present state of both industries and our nations weak economy.
The Smaller pro/am companies that provided such a great cash cow over the last several years has been dying out and there’s now only a hand full of larger companies that control a lion’s share of the web sites DVD's and  other content in circulation now.
Even the hottest stars can get over exposed and exhaust their filming options in a matter of months if they aren’t careful. The end result, I think, will be more and more girls who before would never consider escorting making the plunge in order to simply make ends meet. Looking at the PSE’s out there now, who hasn’t been shocked at some of the names that are available and the surprisingly low rates they are charging?

Well written..I agree and have had a number of people also agree that believe the 2 "lines" should not be crossed. It is now that the economy sucks that most are crossing the line.  yet others also have said "whats the difference" - we F*** on film or in the privates. Actting with people all around, stopping, starting is the biz, but escorting is the intimate act..I don't think the 2 should be mixed.  Just a personal oppinion.

I don't find it surprising that both of the PS that you wished provided but don't are also on the older end of the profession. My sense is that there is a generational gap:  younger PS find it easier to blur the line. I can imagine a host of factors behind this phenomenon.
