To me, there aren't any real porn stars anymore.  In the pre-internet days, the only people you saw as sex stars were video porn stars, and there weren't really that many beautiful, sizzling performers who were willing to flaunt convention and engage in a highly underground and frowned upon profession.  That made those that did.....stars.  Plus, you had to go rent a video with their faces on them.  That made them real stars to my adolescent mind.

Early on it was Seka, Vanessa Del Rio, Marilyn Chambers, etc.  They then ushered in the last wave of great stars, which were Nina Hartley, Amber Lynn, Ginger Lynn, Traci Lords, etc.  In those days there was a naughty, dangerous, forbidden quality that just doesn't exist anymore.

Now its Jenna Jameson and just one jumbled group of nameless, faceless hotties all willing to do much raunchier stuff than ever before, but it's pretty accepted in society to a much larger degree, and, frankly, it's lost something.  Be it on HBO, on Video, over the internet, it's just so pervasive and it all seems the same to me.

I'd rather have live sex these days, and if I ever see porn, it's used as an extra to real sex, and I could care less what the performer's names are.

I'll take the old school women any day.

I always find it amusing to hear how much better everything was in the old days, from safer streets to better porn stars. I heard a figure that in the late 80's/early 90's, about 20 new films came out a week, as compared to about 200 a week today(this ignores internet web sites.) More movies means more ladies. As well, you name the "name" stars of the day. During the time of Seka et al that you mentioned, there were still girls who did a few movies then diappeared from the scene. The ones you(and others who have brought this topic up here and on other boards) were the top performers of their time. Today, with more movies and higher turnover, fewer girls have the qualities of the big stars of yesteryear AND stay in the business long enough to build up the name recognition.

As to safer streets, check out the link below. Just goes to show that the past is sometimes not nearly as rosy as we all hear.

Personally I think there are a lot hotter girls now.

All you have to know about the good old days is that Sharon Mitchell used to do porn, and she may have one of the most frightening grills ever.

The real problem is there are so many hot girls now, that none of them really stand out above the other hotties.

Amen to the notion that there are very few "Porn Stars" anymore. It seems all you have to do is make an apperance in a couple of Videos and use  that moniker.

CDI (as it's now known) was a client of mine in the early 80s for a little while. I got invited to the occasional shoot, but demurred. It felt awkward then (as it does now) to watch other people fuck when you're just standing around doing nothing.

Although there's a lot more going on these days than in the eighties with cosmetics, surgery, etc, I think the women overall are better looking today, but it's debatable. Any guy with a harem of Racquel Darrian, Seka, Loni Sanders, Constance Money, Annette Haven, etc would be a pretty happy guy.
