I occasionally play with an UTR PS. She most certainly DOES know my name (we occasionally text each other, keep each other briefed on life, we've had some crazy-ass fun times where I can go "No shit, I was there and she ____" when I am in the nursing home on oxygen in a wheelchair). As for "why spend $X"... well, why spend $200-250 when your right or left hand is free? The simple truth of the matter is ALL pay for play is a luxury good. This isn't like oxygen or food, or even like a utility. You won't die if you don't get it (you might feel like you'd rather be dead, but hey).
Is it an ego thing to be able to say you nailed your favorite porn star? Sure. You trying to tell me that nailing some 20 year old for $200, who probably wouldn't give you the time of day were it not for the $200, isn't? Some of us just want to spend what we want to spend and get what we find pleasurable out of life. Some people spend thousands of dollars on cars, model trains or stamps. Some spend thousands on golf. Some spend it on pussy. Who's to say who is right?
So, when it comes to "how much will you spend", it's all a matter of taste. Some dudes will spend $0. Some will spend $200 for an hour every so often. Some will spend thousands of dollars for overnights and weekends, or threesomes, or whatever... but here's the thing: for some guys, $1000 is like you going and getting a beer at your local bar.
And to be sure, there are dudes who overspend on this. Here's the thing: most people at the upper end of the economic spectrum don't have TIME to shoot the shit on a message board and research the fuck out of how to get the most bang for their buck. They'd rather throw money at the problem. And that works, too. Takes all kinds.
