The "official" word that was on the news today is that the reason she appeared incoherent is because she was on an overnight flight and hadn't slept.

not necessarily drugs. If you fly often (as I do... 197,000 miles and 104 segments so far in 2013), you know exactly what this is. I won't say it is definitely NOT drugs, but having been in a similar state on numerous occasions... Jenna has just landed after a Red Eye from LA that probably left around 11P and arrived in NY around 8A. She probably had cocktails before the flight, and definitely had some on the flight, meaning she didn't sleep. The combo of losing 3 hours and in flight booze makes you a mess at 9AM (just a guess, but this looked like a morning show). Certainly not responsible behavior if you have a media event in the AM. Publicists work in mysterious ways... they mention her signing is the next day... perhaps they got her an AM slot while she was in flight? That happens a lot.
