My lifestyle won't change...I'll test everytime @ AIM first when in LA & I'll continue to test at home as well...My personal physician writes up scripts so my tests at home are covered under insurance (as there is an ICD-9 coding for sexually active people)...I have a good relationship w/my MD, I think I've even elluded to hobbying, he's not there to preach or pass judgment (his practice is way too busy as it is to sit & pontificate about hobbying, lol)...
amid the recent HIV outbreak, i would like to ask veterans of the hobby and PSE's: how do you all get tested (HIV, HPV, herpes, etc.)and how often. i've been in this hobby for a year now, and would like some suggestions. do you all normally just go to your regular physician during the regular physical checkup and request for all tests? or do you need to request specific tests? if so, which tests do you all request? if you request for all tests, will your physician have any suspicions about your participation in this hobby?
There have been hundreds of posts about this in the past couple of days. Not to beat a dead horse but if you use the search function, you'll find a lot of information and answers to your questions.

since you're new (as you say) may i suggest that you not focus on HIV-testing and "jumping in the pool naked" (so to speak)
seriously, just use a condom (end of story). if you're severely paranoid about the "other things" then just receive, don't give (if you get my drift)
frankly, it's a bit disheartening watching a newbie wanting to get in on the act that even most pros disdain!
it's their choice of course (not for me to criticize) but i'm willing to bet even The Moose didn't jump in the pool naked the first few years he started banging pornstars!
Well, I disagree...There is no one universal belief in this hobby, some are fine w/BBFS, some aren't.....I would not be wasting time & money to go to AIM, especially when I test for FREE at home, if BBFS was not occuring...I'm not sure why you called me out but I'll say it AGAIN: I do more than ample testing, I never have done, nor will do anal, I'm drug free (and I'd bring a drug test if I had to) & I always have 2 forms of ID w/me that I GLADLY show....In addition, I'm mostly seeing repeats nowadays anyway, next trip I'm looking to see a favorite regular for a couple multi hour appts. (over a few days)....
Also, and this probably won't be breaking news on MSNBC, but I'm not the only person whose done BBFS....
i didn't "call you out" as an example of a foolhardy hobbyist or anything like that. in fact, as potentially the opposite! as someone who probably didn't *start* out doing what you do now (when you were a newbie), played safe(r) like most of us, and then evaluated the dangers and his own personal risk-tolerance, and THEN decided to dip in the pool
and yes, i think it *is* disheartening that a fresh newbie (like our friend jt above) wants to immediately jump up to that level of risk-taking, assuming that's what he's contemplating (it sorta seems that way given his pattern of posts over the last several weeks)
also, i stand by my assessment (as inaccurate as it may be) that *most* guys in the hobby DON'T do what you do (not that there's anything wrong with it
Go to the AIM-med.org website. You can schedule a test through them and choose a "draw station" near you to have the blood and urine samples taken. They're Fed-ex'd to AIM's lab and you can view your results in about three days on their password protected website.
The basic test covers HIV, clamydia and gonorreah. Syph, herpes, hepititis etc. are available at an additional charge. Last time I got tested it was $180 for the basic test which you pay to AIM by credit card, and an additional $47 paid directly to the draw station.
Or you can just ask your Dr. to give you a referral for the tests and go to a local lab. It may even be covered by your health insurance. However, it you're doing this in anticipation of asking the PSE for BBFS, she may not accept anything other than AIM, since, not being familiar with your lab she wouldn't be able to tell if it was a fake test result.
Also, if you're looking for BBFS, make sure that she has a computer available to view your results; you're identified by your name and driver's license number on AIM's website so have your license with you when you arrive at her hotel.
By the way, the basic test is all that the adult industry requires from the pornstar, so she could be working and still have an STD.
