The cut may seem ridiculous, but they charge it because they can. Much like in real estate it is all related to the connections people have. We assume because we can go out and find indies just as easy as anyone with an agency it is silly to work under an agency, but I would venture to say somewhere around 80% of the community who actively "visits with" PS's never has stepped foot onto TER or any other community in there life and most of it is done through a friend of a friend knowing a "booker" at an agency. The PS Agencies maintain prime real estate and have the necessary contact to facilitate the clients hence the reason for there being. If there cut was too high they wouldn't get it.
Do the women who use agencies have some sort of an agreement that prevents them from making another appt themselves with somebody they met through an agency?
Just wondering since it seems that agencies would be good for the initial introductions and then it seems it would be better for the woman and the guy to make any subsequent arrangements between themselves for a cheaper rate. Is this considered against the "rules"?
Varies with the agency, but obviously the agency would prefer not to spend money advertising, screening, and arranging a first meeting, only to have the Lady exchange info. with the Gent and conduct all future bookings directly.
My guess is that for Porn Stars, the agencies take their outrageous* cut and live with the fact that they will lose out on some repeat business. More conventional agencies may enforce their prerogatives a bit more harshly, depending on the nature of the relationship - booking site, exclusive representation, pimp, etc.
(* I use that term because the cut for porn stars is often hugely disproportionate to the service provided by the agency. In fact, an agency taking a 50% cut of a $2000 porn star fee (common)does little if any more work than one taking a $100 cut (also common)from a $300 mid-level escort. Sort of like realtors splitting 6% whether it's a $100K house or a $5M one - there may be some extra work / skills involved in selling the $5M house, but not worth 50X more.)

The cut is ridiculous and it is too high as evidenced by the fact that most gentlemen go through the agency once and, if satisfied with the porn star, exchange direct contact info for future bookings. As stated in a previous post, gentlemen settle for the exorbitant fee for the introduction and then make arrangements themselves for further contact because of the high cut. $2000 per hour to see Ice La Fox (through Pamela Peaks), when I can contact her directly and pay $600 to $800 an hour(depending on which city she's in). Yea....ridiculous seems like an apt description to me sir.
